Hey there guys, sorry if these questions have been asked before, but...

I have noticed that shadows have been pissing me off a bit lately. They're a bit dark, and also quite jaggy, unlike the rest of the game. They are my only gripe with the graphics of the game, also the silhouette of the car when smoke is behind it makes the car go quite jaggy as well. :( I read somewhere where the developers of GT5 acknowledged this, but I couldn't find the post again. Is there any chance of this being fixed in the future?

Also, on the subject of DLC cars+tracks. Is it possible we will see DLC, despite the developers believing there is enough content in the game? I do believe there are plenty more cars to be added, and a lot of the standard models are rather tragic and useless. I only own around 50 of the 800 standard models, only because of the nostalgia factor from GT3 and GT4. I own roughly 100-120 premium models... which are great, but I do wish there was more choice.

DLC isn't as important to me however, as the buggy shadows + smoke. I'd really like an answer for that. Thanks guys, and sorry if this has been posted a million times, I couldn't find the search function on this forum. :(

To answer your questions.

While Kaz did state that he wanted to fix the shadows, I don't see them simply fixing it with a patch. I think he was thinking more about the next GT. It seems that they had to sacrifice shadow quality to add all the other features like dynamic weather and time of day. From what I heard, the ps3 doesn't have a lot of memory dedicated to its graphics card, so it could be a hardware limitation.

I definetly believe there will be DLC, or hopefully even free content. Kaz stated that some standards would be upgraded to premium status and if you check the news section there is a trailer for a new car, the FT86 II. So there will probably be more cars. As for tracks, we can hope for more, but they do take some time to model. I think it is more likely for them to release new course maker themes as those allow for infinite track variation.

Don't take this as fact. This is just what I suppose from what I have read and seen.

has anyone noticed that if you enter photomode during a replay that those jaggy shadows turn into normal shadows?

Yeah it's a post rendering technique, it was used in GT4 to make cars look better and now in GT5 they smoothen all the shadows and increase the AA only after the picture is taken.

I hope there is some dlc to come, car selection is already amazing (exept porche) I want more real tracks like silverstone and spa

I have to be honest, I think there are quite a few cars missing from the game that should be in it.

Yeah like in all racing game. Name me one racing game with allllllllllllll the cars you want ? And ask the person next to you, he'll name others cars, and continue on another country they'll be others cars etc.....

On the dlc thingy, I think I remember Kaz saying after releasing the game that DLC tracks and car would be possible but quite hard to manage. So yeah I dont think we'll see some soonish.

Thanks for the answers guys. Sucks that shadows will stay lower quality, I guess I'll have to live. I do basically spend most of my time in photomode though, and racing I do in cockpit view. Other than the shadows, the graphics are excellent.

On DLC, I do hope what some of you say is true. The FT-86 II looks cool, but what's the difference between that and the current FT-86 in the game? :\

If you but them side by side they look pretty different aesthetically. As far as power and handleing, I am not sure how big of a difference it will be. But if they went through the trouble of making one car, I am sure they can make others.
