Is anyone watching the practices right now? Being a brazilian I must say I'm ashamed of how bad the track is. When I heard about an Indy road circuit in Sao Paulo I couldn't believe it. And I mean that in the worst way possible since I knew the roads around here were not fit for racing, let alone openwheel racing.

IRL officials however disagree. I don't know what was going through their heads. People can't even practice, let alone race. The road is extremely bumpy and it has a concrete area that might as well be made of ice.

The brazilian responsible parties are stating that they did everything they were told to but still I'm amazed they actually went on with it. It's probably never going to happen again after this one fails miserably.

Anyway, if you like some motorsport mayhem you must watch the race tomorrow. I have a feeling it's going to be epic. Not in a good way.

Especially when Interlagos is such an epic track already...I'm guessing something to do with fees stopped that or something? Or did IRL just want to avoid F1 tracks?

they are grinding the track with diamond grinders, right now apparently.............

I thought you were making it up when I read your post, but after some searching I found this:

That narrow section, which is at the start/finish, is used for Carnival each spring. It is called the Sambodromo, and it is one-third of a mile in length, part of a 2.6-mile circuit.

Before the Indy cars arrived this week for the inaugural and season-starting event, the Sao Paulo Indy 300, the surface had to be scraped to remove paint. Now, grinding will take place Saturday night.

:dopey:

haha, yeah they said it on the practise session, i watched the last ten minutes. it looked great fun to drive on that bit of track! :D
