Sheading Lap times on the X2010 challenge?

Hey guys,

My names Mark :). this is my first forum thread/Post so please bare with me. Today I unlocked the Level 30 Sebastian Vettel Challenge, and after 10 hours, mostly on Suzuka as that was nearly impossible, and just using the DS3 Controller, i got bronze in all 3 events to get the X2010. I was hoping to get the silver and gold X2010 Cars, and now im asking if any1 knows how to shed the 5 to 7 seconds off a lap in order to obtain these cars?

Any hints or tips would be appreciated, as the forum would benefit from this! :)

To this day, nobody on record has golded any of the x1 challenges with a controller. Silver idk, but definately no record of a gold, it's really been made stupidicly insane for those who wish not to spend hundreds of dollars on a pretend steering wheel lol. Got bronze on monza in about 40 mins, havnt tried nurburgring yet, and im only 1 second off in suzuka, but i dont try it that much because driving an X1 with a controller is really horrid.
 
No way of doing so lol... I golded them but with a steering wheel... some of my friends cannot even bronze it with DS3 so be proud of yourself... :dunce:
 
Is it the smoothness of the drive then that makes the speeds alot quicker? And how much are the G25/27 steering wheel pads etc? It appears Monza can be done on Gold, but ive not tried it myself. Im a bit sick of the sight of Suzuka if im frank, hate the track itself, never been good at it, and the fact i must of done a good 400 odd attempts just to get bronze and i was at the very limit, the pass was 2' 16' 500 and i did 2' 15' 200 and that was me at the very end of my teather :(

How much are the G25/ G27 wheel sets ? Im going to buy 1 in future :)

Well, G25's ive seen go for near $200 on eBay, however at the top end, a new G27 with a suitable stand/chair can go for 600-700 bucks. Ive got a chair myself i could turn into a gaming chair, but still, not going to spend the money on a wheel unless i have to :P.
 
not too bad considering. Have many people actually done the event then? It seems just rediculously hard, ive done most GTs and thats DEFINITELY the hardest event ive probably done on any game.. ever perhaps. The car itself is not hard to control, but i find myself, my reactions with the controller just arent quick enough and i cant maintain enough pace through the corners to sustain quick laps, not so much at Monza, but at Suzuka its noticeable. I've seen replays where for example, u go through the first weavy 3 or 4 bends, then the long bend with the sharp right heading towards the square corner. Its at that point the controller is useless as it just cannot get the car on the racing line in time and with enough speed out of the corner and as a result i must lose about 4 or 5 seconds in the first sector alone :(. Any1 else have a similar issue?
 
Yeah the racing line is near impossible with a DS3, really need a wheel for it lol. Many people have completed them with gold with a wheel, but with the DS3 its near impossible unless you fluke it.
 
There is a HKS racing controller - designed to be used instead of a wheel. You might want to check them out.

I have a Driving Force Pro - old PS2 wheel but works great on the PS3. Why not suggest the Driving Force GT wheel that you can get for 100-150 bucks?
 
thanks for the info pyro. I suppose i might go for the more premium, expensive driving sets as i actually want to learn, simulate how to drive a car properly, not just normally but learn to drift and race as well, as in real life I dont know how to do it :(. This would be a nice start :(! I think when my Bob has finished Suzuka with the X2010, im going to see if i can get silvers on the tracks by tampering with the settings :). Ill report back with my findings :D

Is it pssible, any specifcations on what Addons you were using? Best i had was everything off bar Spin recovery and 1 of the icons to 10. And ive got a 1' 06' 323. 8 10ths off the time for silver 1' 05' 500 any tips lads :S? Im finding the middle sector at monza a right handful to keep the momentum going :(!!!
