Isn't that the best title for a film ever, and quite frankly the title says it all. It could almost be a game, but not even a game is this much damn fun! This review won't be long, because there really isnt alot to say..... Anyone see/remember a film "Crank". Well think that, but cranked up to 11 on the stylish gun play. And you have John Woo crossed with Guy Ritchie.

Clive Owen is brilliant (as ever), Paul Giamatti puts a nice twist on the slightly deranged bad guy & Monica Belluci (42!!) is just hot. But you really dont care about the "acting" do you. This is the most entertaining film ever, EVER, EEVVEERR!!!!! Its seriously friggin awesome. I want to see it again already. Sure anyone with a brain, who is snobby, wont like this, but... Hah! your missin out.

Its sick, its twisted, its friggin hilarious, its a gun nuts wet dream. Its beyond words how brilliantly entertaining this film is. Even the end credits are brilliant, whoever did them needs to do the next 007 film (Like Clive should've in the 1st place).

Im gonna stop now, as i could ramble on for hours about this film.

11/10

PS... Carrots will never seem the same again! :sly:

I have to say that I'm siding with the TRS guys on this one;

Shoot 'em Up was fun, but it by no means was a "good" movie.

The acting really wasn't particularly great at all, there really wasn't a coherent story at all; It really just came off like it was written and directed by a bunch of action film guys who all screamed "Wouldn't it be AWESOME if we did this? But to the X-TREME!"

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed myself, but it was quite clear that only certain types of people are going to enjoy it in the same way I did.

I never said it was a "good" film. I simply praised it for what it was, the most fun film i'd seen possibly ever.
Its not about the acting, but the actors were all good, and i really like Clive Owen. Paul Giamatti was really fun to watch and at least a bit different to the stereo type villains.
With regards to story, i think it wasn't to bad for this sort of film, alot more went on in this than in one of those crappy Seagal or Van Damme STV films.
So, did you actually like it YSSMAN, i cant really work it out?!?

PS, maybe im being thick, but whats TRS??

I'd presume TRS was for The Realistic Story, though I've never seen TRS as an acronym in this context before.

Sounds very similar to Smokin' Aces...

..And I loved that film so HELLS YEAH!
:D

I liked it because it was so outrageous, but by no means would I ever consider it to be a "good" movie just because of the rather odd story and the somewhat flat acting. Shoot 'em Up versus Smokin' Aces is a win for SA in my book, mainly because there is a bit of a backstory with the characters, and you actually feel a bit for them. But, thats just me.

Its worth seeing (Shoot 'em Up) just because its so outrageous.

TRS = Totally Rad Show, starring Alex Albrecht (from Digg Nation), Dan Tractenberg, and Jeff Cannata. Basically its a show made for and by geeks/nerds, talks about everything from videogames and comic books to television and movies.

IMO, the best show on Revision3 right now...

Saw it this evening.

Clive Owen was good, as always. The next Bond, I say.
Paul Giamatti is new to me, but he did play an excellent role as the 'bad guy' - But not the typical one. I love the calls from his wife.

I think they could have done without the villians in parachutes, and there were a few WTF moments (How does he open the double doors at the end with his broken hands?), but overall it was what I expected. This book is one that can be judged by its' cover.

I agree with you YSSMAN i never said it was technically "good", anyone that did is clearly an idiot.
This is more like Crank than Smokin Aces, it knows its daft & plays totally on it. As much as i liked Smokin Aces, in the end it took itself far to seriously at points.

All this film is, is set piece after set piece of brilliant gun fights & violence. You can tell from the title wether your going to want to see it or not. And apparently my girlfriend wants to see it now, so i'll probably be seeing it again on "orange" Wednesday. I hope it works as well 2nd time.....
