When listing Standard model cars if you list the exact colour with it then people are essentially getting both the colour and the car. It could help sway some people toward buying something they wouldn't otherwise.
They could then keep the car and use the extra paint item in a trade.
Remember some colours are rarer/more desirable than others so having a car in a certain colour might not mean much for you, but every time that car is received by someone it creates a new paint item for them.
