I just finished reading RWD's post explaining his behavior in the past....

Just a quick recap for the newbies:

RWD, formerly known as BMW///M3, got into an argument with a fellow member concerning the aftermath of the September 11th trajedy...it wasn't pretty

BMW then deleted several of his own threads and many posts of other members.

Jordan then banned BMW///M3 from the site and until now, he hasn't been heard from.

ALRIGHT! I am NOT trying to stir controversy concerning this issue, but I would like to hear from the members who were around when this problem arose. The question is should BMW///M3 be given a second chance or should be further exiled from this site? If he were to be readmitted, he would obviously lose his moderation privelages, but would retain his former name and post count?

1) YES
2) NO

Vote above now!

However, I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ANY ARGUMENTS OR HARSH LANGUAGE

I don't care if im a Moderator or not, but I would just like to know everyone's opinions

Personally, I don't care one way or the other. As you pointed out, if Jordan decided to let him have his old name back he wouldn't have any kind of moderator access. That's about the only thing that matters. Just don't give him the ability to screw something else up.

My points:

-- Does he even want it back? If I was him I'd look around and realize that people are still pretty ticked off. I wouldn't want anything to do with this place.

-- I think this thread is a bad idea, and can't believe I'm even responding to it. Just another thread that a moderator will have to close.

I had that in mind when I posted it...

I am going to try my very best, despite not being a moderator, to keep this thread under containment

Everyone deserves a second chance. He made a mistake - we all do.

Remember, this is just a pastime. If something bad happens here, it should be fairly inconsequential in your life. If it isn't, seek professional help immediately.

Frankly, no. I think what he did was TOTALLY despicable and unforgivable. You can always give more chances, but sometimes you shouldn't. I think he should be gone for good. Maybe then he'll learn his lesson.

Sorry, man. :shakehead

Stealth rules with a closed fist (and a steel toed boot). Good to know (:

That makes me think up another very contraversial topic for a thread: Capital Punishment. I bet that'd get the blood flowing in a few people here.

Actually, I am frequently very forgiving. However, I think BMW's actions in these circumstances was totally innapropriate and cannot be tolerated. Every time Jordan and the moderators make a ruling on this type of situation, they SET A PRECEDENT.

By allowing BMW to return, they set the precedent that SURE, you can maliciously delete dozens of threads, in essence VANDALIZING the community, but it's ok, no worries. Sure, we'll be mad for a while...but you know, it's ok!

The decision on this matter will determine people's possibly actions in the future. I say better safe then sorry when it comes to something that Jordan has put so much effort in to. This should never happen again.

what he did wasnt that bad.

we had an admin at the GTF that got mad and left...

unfortunately he took all 13,000 of his posts with him and had his account deleted.

any old threads before christmas are pure gibberish now.

Maybe it wasn't bad by your or GTF's standards. However, to me, it was a terrible thing to do. He intentionally hurt the community, and now wants a 2nd chance. I say don't give it to him.

well it doesnt seem like from his posts that he wants a second chance. and from a purely speculatory point of view it seems he just wanted to erase his memory, as our spook did.

I want to agree with you, but there are some thoughts I have against it.

"-- Does he even want it back? If I was him I'd look around and realize that people are still pretty ticked off. I wouldn't want anything to do with this place."

Yeah, we're on the same page for that.

Your second point though ... technically, it isn't his to delete. Once you click "Submit Reply" or "Submit Thread", everything in your post is the property of Jordan (or the GTF owner ...). Neither of these two people had the right to delete content from the host's website. That is why Jordan has removed that ability from the moderators here at GTP.

true. but that doesnt mean he meant harm by it. regardless, sometimes when people are ticked off they do irrational things, they dont think about it, and then they're screwed. thats what second chances are for.

Ok, that's reasonable. But I don't think I want anything to do with people who can't control their actions. My 'title': "Think before you speak." ... "Think before you act.", works about the same.

He was a moderator. He abused his abilities. That pretty much breaks and trust that existed before. But like I said way back up there in my first post, A) we don't even know if he wants to be 'back' for sure, and B) who cares - it's just a name - moderator status is gone for sure.

I think that you've made the best point so far....it is just a pastime.

Now Stealth...I assume that you hold a lot of pride about being a member of this community. Am I correct? I once got into a very very very heated argument with ZeroCool85 yet we are still cool with each other. Forgive, but just not forget? I don't believe in that. The site is just for recreation. Should he return, he will have absolutely no moderating power, but if he conducts himself properly, he would be an asset to the community.

Learn his lesson? Let me remind you that this is just a recreational site. Besides, he will just register under a different name as he already has and I'm afraid to say that Jordan can do nothing to stop that.

I doubt it will now that moderators have lost the ability to delete posts. Do you hold a grudge against the man? Personally, I believe that BMW should be given a second chance so long as he conducts himself accordingly.

According to Mr. BMW himself, there was rational thought behind his actions. Stealth, I suggest you re-read his comments.

Well, BMW///M3 has been banned, and that is that. If he registers with a new account (and we all know he already has), acts responsible and friendly, I don't have any problems with it. But, if he causes trouble, I'll punish him accordingly just as I would any other member.

wow, how did all this come up? I didn't ask for anything, that's why I registered under a NEW name. Basically, Jordan's right, I have this name now. I like it.

BTW, not stir up controversy, as Rice said, but didn't you guys know that I gave warning to what I was gonna do? Nobody believed me, though, too bad.

Another thing, It amazes me how the bad stands out over the good. I actually did good things in this comminity. I DID get to the point of Super Mod. I WAS well respected and liked by most members. When I was going to leave, I DID have plenty of people wanting me to stay, so appearently I had to have done something good. But if you only want to point out the bad stuff, so be it.

I believe you said that you were leaving, not, "I'm leaving GTPlanet, and deleting all the threads I've started too."

Actually, I asked/told Jordan to take my mod "powers", cause I was getting mad. :(
