Should gymkhana be in the next game?

I love gymkhana but it would be a bit difficult to make it into a full event

Maybe some gymkhana tracks but not an event

You're welcome to come try out or just drive with my gymkhana car club. We hold contests and rally races for prizes(example: gymkhana tuned Subaru rally car '99). We have about 8 members, but need around 15. Just message me if you're interested.

I know I am going to get flamed for this, but what exactly is gymkhana, (Im sure others have poked in on this thread wondering the same thing but dont want to ask.)

Check out the Drifting Forum, there's a gymkhana community on GT5 already :D

out of most things i would like if they put the Ebisu circuit in the game, with ALL different tracks. And a dedicated touge run like they did in NFS Carbon (in my opinion probably one of the best NFS games) that would be pretty darn sweet!

As much as I wish it was I think it's been reserved for DiRT 3.

Especially as Gymkhana's innovator Ken Block is 'the main character' in DiRT 3

Gymkhana would be awesome. It's fun just watching it so being able to actually have a crack would be great. There's a lot of skill involved to be able to do it so it fits in to the whole GT thing. :-)

No.

I don't see how you could pull it off properly with a controller.

Also, I would like PD to get their act together and provide some proper *racing* before venturing into gimmickry. I know GT is sold as a 'driving simulator', but to me that always comes across as a lame excuse for not providing a proper racing experience with competitive AI, leaderboards and actual damage (hint to PD: play some Shift 2, you might learn something). 👍

whats the hype about. There is a mediocre (at least) Rally driver named Ken driving around pylons. May be fun watching once but thats it. So a clear no.

It's a daft event where you basically drive about like your in a stolen car doing donuts and handbrake turns for points, not my cup of tea. Dirt 3 has made it their big selling point but I think its going to spoil what should be a great game.

Do you call that mediocre my friend????

That's a solid show, but not something I'd like to see in GT. Looks like a recipe for a pointless and frustrating event.

But tell me... why would they put something like this in, after removing the whole essence of rally racing from GT first? GT4's rally aspect was awesome and has been completely removed (or rather replaced with a lame, tiny special event around something vaguely reminiscent of rally driving with a cameo appearance of Sebastien Loeb).

Bring back Tahiti Maze before introducing even more weird gimmicks into what once was a great driving game.

Yes, sure.
You gotta read about the countless times he tries to do these tricks. Its not that hes going out and is driving perfectly.
In addition to that all he delivers in Rally Sports is lower than mediocre.
Of course you dont see these details on a youtube page...

Dont get me wrong, he surely drives way better than me (but im working in the IT and dont spend the whole day training on a track - so thats a no brainer)
Alas its about the hype which seems not to be justified by his skill.
You should also consider some Rally feedback he gets from other drivers and the audience...
Really not so good.

Just to add. I was impressed as i saw some videos at first a year or so ago.
However after i noticed that its all a marketing thing and not related to beastly skills im no more supporting it.

Meh. I never did much driving at Gymkhana personally. I'd much rather see the Test Curse and a few other tracks come back.

It's a "track" that was in GT4. Actually it was nothing but a big open space you could drive and drift around in. Some of the "coffee break" license tests were held there. Since GT4 was so horrible with drifting, Gymkhana was sometimes the only place to try and get your car loose without worrying about slamming a wall or whatever.

While I wouldn't mind having it back for a fun measure, I do believe there are higher priorities for PD to fix this game with:grumpy:

Thank you for the Answer. As far as that video and some of the comment, I agree that it being a marketing thing is pretty lame, and also the fact that someone mentioned how many attempts it took to do it correctly, I am not convinced nor should anyone else be that this was a single run, I am sure its chopped up videos tied together to make it look right.

He's more of a show/stunt driver or rally cross driver than he is a full on WRC driver.

At Gymkhana GRID (Google it) he took on budding drivers at a fast, adrenaline fuelled race. He absolutely hammered everyone other than rallycross master Tanner Foust.

People have judged him wrongly from his WRC performances, he's used to doing 5 minute, ultra technical races such as X-Games Rallycross.

And please bear in mind, he is a part owner of DC shoes (he works for them, not just a background shareholder) so he too has plenty of other stuff to get on with.

No.
And while we're at it, take out drifting.

Why do you want things taken out of the game? 👎

Virtually none of the proper drifters do the silly drift trials, instead we stick comfort hard tyres and slide cars with stupid BHP around tracks.

It's fun when you can do it and sometimes requires far more skill than normal driving.

What do you want them to do?

Make comfort tyres grip like racing softs? :ouch:
