Hello, I have been using a Driving Force Pro (no clutch) and I would like advice from people that might have upgraded. Mainly because of the options to tune and adjust the more expensive wheels and pedals as there are no options in GT5.

Did it improve your driving?
Did it improve lap times?

Thanks,
Nigel.

I seriously doubt it

Quieter gears, more doo-dads and flashy lights and buttons certainly wont do the trick.

Plus if you're already used to the DFGT, it would be crazy to switch.

And I can tell you this, the clutch pedal in this game is next to useless for anything other than novelty. You definitely wont be increasing your laptimes using the H and the clutch.

Not even to customize my driving style? For example I am used to being able to adjust the deadzone and sensitivity in other games which I find useful.

The man speaks the truth. Hate to admit it as well since I love playing with the clutch and H shifter but its true.

There are no deadzone/sensitivity settings for my G25, you don't need them in GT5 as the wheel works well as it is. Not like NFS shift where it needs changing to get it anywhere near driveable.

As for the clutch and shifter, I don't use the shifter it's not quick enough to find the right gear for me, I use the paddles on the wheel as I like to keep both hands on the wheel, especially for the faster cars with twisty circuits. Taking a hand off the wheel and trying to find a gear with the shifter is hard work, although others may say that if you keep practising you will find it becomes natural to you and rewarding.

I don't think you really need to change your wheel for this game at least.

He's using the DFP.

I don't see what so bad about the option to use clutch (yes, it isn't the best). To me, just having to go through the motions is worth it.

One thing about the steering I hate is, I have to jerk the wheel around rather than constant turning. When cornering I have to turn normally say for first 20% and then jerk the wheel the remainder and the steering seems to "catch up almost so to speak".
