It's like seasonal except..

There will be a filter that says "Preset Servers", these would be dedicated servers from PD themselves. The restrictions will be put, and you'll always find a category you want to race in.

Just like seasonal, each would have it's own theme, except when you join, you wont race against AI, you'll race against other players for big prize money.

If you are having trouble finding people who like to race with your ideal racing requirements, why not start a thread over in the GT5 Online Racing and see if you can get interest generated? If you are having trouble finding like-able races online you might just have to change your tastes unless you can find a group of racers who are wanting the same as you. You might also have to be flexible to get more people to join you.

I understand what you are trying to talk about, but right now PD doesn't have the time or the resources to have dedicated servers for themselves, much less anyone else.

This sounds a lot like matchmaking, which is a promised feature I'm desperately waiting for to help me keep playing this game. Hopefully, it will come in the next update, but I'm not expecting anything major to come any time soon for obvious reasons.

But when it does come, it would be nice if AI filled all empty slots, so you would always have a full grid. Shift 2 does this I believe.

I think it sounds more like the GT5P online events?

I'd like those to make a return in GT5

I think matchmaking is a possibility. It works well for first person shooters for the most part. But would make it so certain settings are forced. Such as the type of car and tire selection

Yes... Not only should they, they should HAVE a long time ago!

Where is the matchmaking that was promised? This would be part of that missing feature!

I still like the option to host rooms, with your own rules = fun. If you dont like online play as it is, dont play.

Because racing for me is about knowing and understanding not only the machinery that you are driving but also pushing everything to the limit (braking points etc) I would like to have standardised events where a certain car (or very limited selection of cars) is allowed to compete on a given track. This would allow you to work out your braking points etc offline, before going online in the knowledge that your setup and car choice will still be allowed.

Whilst I think that people being able to create their own rooms is a good idea, it is fundamentally the reason I haven't touched the online once since the game was released; because having to guess where the braking point is with a random car/track combo is not what racing is about to me. That is trial end error in the extreme.

It's a good idea. Also, any A-Spec event should be playable against Online opponents (but winning doesn't contribute towards A-Spec).

👍 I want to race against people without dealing with people 👍
I want it to be seemless like racing against the AI opponents.

Haha, I sound like a bad person, but it's what I want.

yeah, min weight max power/ pp and tire restrictions. I was a bit disappointed PD didn't have this from the getgo.

Lan evo vs STi races, mr only races. 60's stock production etc. lots of possibilities for PD. maintaining servers costs money... but other games do it.
