Hey drifters,

This will just help me to determine whether or not I should produce the next installments of my Drift Sagas and Drift Bibles in surround sound or not.

Keep in mind that you will have to have hardware and software that support this type of feature.

If surround is popular enough with these titles I'll start producing more and more vids with 5.1 quality surround more often.

Another thing to keep in mind is that 5.1 equates to a slightly larger file size since MPEG2 is the only pheasable file format that supports this. And if you've done your homework, you know that MPEG2 is not very compression friendly.

Thanks a bunch it will help me out a lot.

Surround sound? You're joking right? So increased file size is the con, what's the pro? What would be the benefit?

since me and shadow are releasing these serise most likely there will be a non surround sound version an a 5.1 surround sound.
BTw all the movies that i make of other games i burn onto dvd and play them on surround sound heh.

Better sound? Give me a break. It sounds like a gimmick to me, a flashy thing you tack on to try to get people to download it. Don't make an entertaining fun-for-the-whole-family guide, make a REAL guide. Teaching people how to drift has nothing to do with surround sound.
Form over style.

First and foremost, shadow, you need to wory about the editing, and better explanations. There is a problem with over talking the explanations in your vids. Keep it simple and to the point, and make sure you have a good grasp on the techniques, before you tell everyone else how to do it. This means, do a lot of research, even if you think you understand the techniques. This way there will be a lot less confusion around here.;)

Furthermore, Surround sound would just be a gimmick. Work on making the drifts better, not the sound. Not to mention, we're trying to keep the file sizes smaller, so everyone gets to see the vids, not just the DSL, or Cable modem people.;)

i think it would waste spaceand if you need to use surround sound then i wouldnt dl the vids because i dont have surround sound

I see your point with the explinations, but the editing, come on, how much editing can one video really have. I think that the editing on previous vids has been just fine.

One thing I want to say in my defense is that the reason I explain so much is because not everyone is like you, not everyone knows what a Breaking Drift is and can just be shown how to do it and catch on. You're a really good drifter and you understand the techniques, but not everyone on this thread does. So I took that into consideration with my drift bible, I made sure that I could answer any and every question that even the most ignorant newbie could possibly ask. Most of the time I felt that I hadn't said enough when explaining the drift, especially when I go back and rewatch them. I always say to myself, OO, I shoulda said this, or I coulda said that. But that's might just be my throwed offism

I didn't just want to say: "This is power oversteer." Do the drift and then move on to the next topic, how helpful would that be? Not very if you ask me.

As far as understanding what I'm explaining, I wouldn't go in front of this harsh crowd if I didn't KNOW that I had a firm grasp on what I was talking about, I would just say "Here's inertia drifting" if I couldn't do it. That would just make me look like a dumbass.

As far as the surround sound and file sizes are concerned, I use my own servers with large amounts of bandwidth readily available, and my target audience with the surround sound deal is the people with broadband connections and surround sound capabilities. I wouldn't just make a surround sound version and not include a non-surround version for those who don't have the capabilites to view it or who just choose not to have the surround sound version for file size reasons.

Keep the comments coming tho, and I'm always working to improve my drifting. I'm stuck using the analog controller right now, which sucks (no offense to the analog users) but I get's a paycheck twice a month so I'm getting the Logitec DFP on the 15th. A JEAH.

Definatly make sure to include more than one replay of each drift from more than one angle.. and if you really are worried about noobies you might want it to pause and point out what is happening to the car and why and blah blah blah or maybe that is overambitious?
