Chevrolet vs. Ford. Toyota vs. Nissan. Subaru vs. Mitsubishi. Holden vs. Ford Australia. Camaro vs. Mustang. Supra vs. Skyline. Impreza/WRX vs. Lancer. GTPlanet, this topic is all about rivalries and if they should be focused on in the next GT to make racing more interesting. If you remember Gran Turismo 1, there were three types of rivalry races: USA vs. Japan, Japan vs. UK, and USA vs. UK. When it comes to Australia, I've always stated that there were Tickfords but no Ford Australia in GT3. GT4 features Ford Australia and Holden, but GT4 has only the Ford Falcon V8 Supercar with no Holden V8 Supercar. I'm sure muscle car fans really like the Camaro vs. Mustang rivalry, but it would be really interesting if there was a Series Race featuring the Camaro/Mustang rivalry. If you like rivalries and totally dislike American cars, maybe Toyota vs. Nissan is your cup of tea. Of course, Toyota and Nissan REALLY don't like each other in racing. If there was a Rivalry Series, races would go from Vitz's/Echoes/Yaris' and Micras all the way up to GT500 Supras and GT500 Skylines, maybe even up to Toyota GT-Ones and Nissan R390s.
So people, do you think the next GT should focus on automotive and motorsports rivalries and come up with interesting race series and even championships? Hey, rivalries happen in all sports, even motorsports. So don't think I'm trying to bring college football and college basketball to racing. How about it? Automotive and racing rivalries that you can control in the next GT. Reply on.
