Should the [quote] tags be allowed in signatures?

Personally, I find them very distracting, and dificult to easily differentiate from th rest of the text. Also, the tend to create long, long sigs that hve few lines of text. In other words a waste of space.

Could we take the [quote ] tags out of sigs and just use regular " marks? Like instead of

The second version looks a lot better in my opinion.
 
Since the quotes are rarely funny, usually too long and generally out of context, I too would support the abolition of support for the
function in signatures.

Might be tricky to implement though...

No, I don't like them either. But, short of disallowing all vBcodes in signatures, that's not an option I can set. (Disallowing images is another option unto itself.) I suppose it will have to be made a new rule.
 
I completely agree. Quotes take up about 3 lines of completely unneeded space. Only a handful of people have such signatures, so it isn't a huge problem.
 
When I thought about putting a quote in my sig I thought the way i did it took up the least space and was still easy to read.
 
If people would stop asking to be quoted, no one would quote them, and it'd be the end of the quoting saga. When they say "Don't quote me" it's code for "Please put this post in your sig! I want to be recognized!"
