Show of Hands--(who decided to drop to 720p)?

I haven't noticed any reason not to run it in 1080P. But, I did purchase a new PS3 with the game and the new system might be better able to keep up than an older PS3 would.

I have played other games where it was not smooth at all. On a computer I would cut some of the graphics that the game allowed. If that wasn't enough I would change the resolution on my monitor until I had a good 30 fps or faster frame rate.

So far with GT6 I'll keep it at 1080P.
I have an old fat PS3 160gb. It seems to run GT6 fine in 1080p, looks glorious compared to 5.

I play in 1080p, I have a 47" Panasonic plasma with a native 1920 x 1080 resolution ( Full HD ) and if I switch to 720p notice instantly the image is softer etc . When I fist got the game at release it was a bit iffy but after the 11gb install and few updates things seem to be running very good for me so no need to change:D

I have a 32 LED LG Full HD (HDMI) and I play in 1080p.
I don't even have option to 720.

The option is in the ps3 system. Manaully set display to 720 to try it.

HD Television stations are only transmitted in 720p. So if your tv didn't have it, you would not be able to watch cable.

I though it was on GT6 options. I'll take a look. Thank you!

The TV are set up to PS3 and MacBook only.

I went back to full resolution. I just chose the sharpen option. I was in a room last night with 12 drivers on Nurb typeV and I didn't notice a frame rate drop (not that it didn't happen, just that I didn't notice it)...granted, all the other cars were behind me :dopey:

I've been running it at 1080p on my tv from the start (approx 5 year old 100hz 40/42 inch Sony).

Was it 1.01 update when they took the blur effect off the game (i actually quit liked the effect but it was probably nerfing the ps3 frame rate). Anyway, when they took off the blur i switched to the "sharpen" mode which helped a lot.

I do notice fence shimmering on certain tracks in replays but to be honest when I'm racing I hardly notice it at all. It does depend on the track how much it shows though. There is so much more detail on trackside, the grass, the Armco etc though compared to gt5. That and the outstanding lighting engine more than hides any screen tear etc from my eyes.

I should say though that I drive in the standard "behind the car" view. Cockpit mode could be different, though the few occasions I've used it in replays I've been happy with it (not used it for racing though). Sorry for the very long post

Please don't shoot me down in flames for these wild guesses, but here goes for suggestions regarding music, wifi and wired controllers.

I run at 1080p on a 60inch TV, and am very happy with the experience. So what may be different? I have had all Background Music turned off since day one. I did this for two reasons. Personal preference, and because I read a post which made recommendations for successful online racing and it included turning off the music to reduce the load on the PS3.

In theory, I would have expected that the presence of more complex sound generation requirements would not affect video performance, but then equally, one might not necessarily expect music to affect online behavior.

Various reports indicate that in GT6, they have really wrung out the last few drops of PS3 performance, and under some circumstances they liken the visual result to that of next gen consoles. My first wild guess is that there may be some complex interactions going on which can be improved by turning off the music.

The same posting about setting up for online recommended using wired and not wifi, which makes absolute sense of course for online behavior. It just might make an overall difference if there is more overhead in wifi than wired Ethernet.

Finally, I use a USB-connected wheel, and this may be easier on the system than a non-wired controller.

Bottom line, I'm thinking that our PS3s are now working really hard for us, and anything we can do to make life easier for them may be repaid in a better gaming experience.

PS, I'm wearing my flameproof racing suit, give me a moment to put down this iPad and put my gloves back on before replying! Thanks.

That's interesting. I've always made a habit of turning off the music in racing games across the board. While it may be nice to have some tunes in the family car while on the move, in a racing environment its an unwelcome distraction. Even in the replays, its not creating the right atmosphere, for me at least. That said, the performance of my PS3 at 1080p is still stuttery and somewhat disappointing and I am still running at 720p instead. If I may ask, how old is your PS3 and what model is it? Contrary to some opinions, I think this does make a difference - if your experience at 1080p is good, then there is hope.

Yes, I can't stand music drowning out the sound of the game. Even if the engine note is not accurate, there is still the feeling of immersion and ability to judge gear change points based on the musical note!

My console's an old one. Big fat PS3 originally with an 80GB hard drive.

The model suffix is CECHL01

Like you, I suspect that different technologies of PS3 may perform slightly differently, especially in GT6 which is said to be pushing the hardware really hard. At lower loads, the interactions may be less noticeable. It is my plan to buy two more PS3s when triple screen comes out on GT6. I'm wondering what to buy. New slim or old obese?
