Sidekick 2 reprogramming

I'm getting a Sidekick 2 for the wonderful price of $40 (Perfect Condition too!) from a good friend, because he got a Sidekick 3. Now that I'm getting it, can I get T-Mobile to reprogram it for me on a prepaid plan?
