Signature colours for cars/makes

As I grew increasingly tired of my messy garage, I started painting some cars of the same make with similar colours.

Which made me think about what would be the "most correct" colours for some of the brands?

I'm aware of course that many or even most really don't have a signature colour, like VW, Volvo, BMW etc, but there are of course some clear candidates like Ferrari and Alfa ROmeo that more or less have the base colour Red of some sort.

What do you think is *the* colour for the makes we have in GT5?

Audi- I'd say silver
BMW- Laguna Seca Blue
Chevrolet- Yellow
Dodge- Hemi Orange
Lamborghini- Yellow/Orange
Merc- Silver
Aston/Jag- British Racing Green
Ford- White/blue (to me anyway)
Volvo- Beige

That's all I can come up with right now....

Ferrari - Either Rosso Corsa or Rosso Scuderia
Lamborghini - either Arancio Atlas or Giallo Orion, lots of people go for colors like Verde Ithaca though
Honda - Championship White
Mitsubishi - red

Odd I tend to paint the German cars white. (Alpine White or Alabaster White)
Audi (Auto Union) and Benz (Mercedes) I can understand going silver due to the weight saving legend from the 30's - did they really scrape the paint off to save weight?

Lotus - White (Or Calypso Red for "Challenge")

Mitsubishi GTO (Puma Green) Lancers (White or Red)

Ferrari - Hairdresser Pink

Mini (Red/Blue and White)

Pagani - Any clown car colour - custard pie yellow

AC Cobra - "MacGyver Cherry Red"... okay
For the Shelby I like the white with Blue Stripes sort of a Cunningham vibe.

Nissan Skylines - Quite partial to "Gun metal grey"

Lotus: green+gold is quite original. I prefer Lotus GP colours black+gold wheels with red interior. Looks awesome.

Renault: Yellow

Jaguar: I'd go for british racing green. (+gold wheels?)

Volvo: Doesn't really have any, but most of the new models are introduced in white so that might work.

Ferrari: Red for sure.

Hope it helps. :)

I know they're not really the "official" colours, but for most of my Nissan's, I use either Bayside Blue or one of the Midnight Purples.

"Volvo - Beige"
The 245 GLT Estate perhaps.. But then again, all cars produced in that decade had horrible colors.
I'd say Volvo is def plain white, or "Lazer Blue". The blue color was used to introduce the V70R, and it looks really good.

You know countries have official colors (not manufactors, I know)?
Like:
England: Brittish Racing Green (Jag F1 team)
Germany: White (Hence the white BMW's in WTCC etc)
Italy: Red
France: blue
Sweden: Blue and yellow
Argentina: Blue and yellow

I'm not 100% sure, but those I listed just popped up.. I could be wrong in a case or two tho.. ;)
But basically all cars was painted in it's countries official car-color (The racing cars).
What's funny is that in most cases, the official race car color does'nt contain the same colors as the national flag, as you might would imagine.

Lately, the cars does'nt always follow this old color code. Mostly due to sponsors etc.

Many good suggestions here.

Now, i only have to get enough paint chips to complete my work. Grr, PD and their useless paint system.

no,no
Subaru's have to be WR Blue Mica. Sorry to all those who have different colours down for Subaru but that has been Subaru's rallying colours for years and is the only colour that a Subaru looks good in.

Funny how people assume there are 'correct' colours for particular brands, if anything it just are cliche stereotypes mostly based on the racing colours used by nations (Italy-red, France-blue, Germany-white, Britain-green, Belgium-yellow, etc.) which were abandoned decades ago.
Even Enzo Ferrari himself never used Rosso Corsa for his personal cars, he chose a dark blue called Blu Pozzi.

I thought of a simple way of researching this:

Go to google image search, zoom browser view out so you get a lot of hits on screen, type make of car, try to extrapolate main color for car make.

Examples:

Alfa Romeo is a definite red:

Autobacs is mostly orange/red:

Ferrari is clearly red, in spite of Enzo's personal preference:

Of course Subaru is blue:

Of course there are lots of makes that are not as clear as these and there are many makes that come up with mostly silver (which is probably the least exciting car colour ever). But I could probably use it as a guide when uncertain.

Volvo for instance shows a lot of light golden brown metallics, although I know that is probably quite new.

Porsche- racing yellow
Ford- blue
McLaren- papaya orange
Subaru- geyser blue or anodized copper
Lamborghini- white
Ram- black
Tesla- obsidian black metallic
Chevy- white
Land Rover- eiger grey
