Here's an example:

and here's another one:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?postid=662424#post662424 (And no, it's not because I'm quoted there)

I know that I can turn off signature files in my control panel, but can I rather get a few moderators to make a few kindly suggestions to the people with excessive signature file sizes? Also, what might be the recourse if the person objects to changing it? Can a moderator edit their signature file, or can only Jordan do that?

Thanks,

AO

I've made this one of my tasks as a mod. At least one per day, I send PMs to people asking to reduce signature sizes or remove offensive wording. Most people cooperate though some have been reluctant.

Moderators cannot change a user's signature or profile. Only Admins can do that. Our only method of enforcement is to ban people who refuse to cooperate, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Please feel free to PM me with any offensive or exceptionally large signatures, and I will contact the offender. Thanks.

[edit] While I'm at it, here's a recap of the sig guidelines: [/edit]
  • No more than 6 lines in length - including blank lines
  • Enlarged text counts as two or more lines
  • No foul language or offensive comments
  • No commercial links of any kind or pushy verbage advertising personal sites - simple links to personal sites OK

I think it would be a good idea to make a no-using-quote-tags-in-signatures rule. It takes up way too much space and is very unsightly.

I've suggested that to several of the quote addicts.

I know Jordan's not around as much, but if you guys need someone to alter user sigs, let me know.

But the rule includes blank lines... and thus, divider lines. Plus the
tag forces an extra blank line after itself. Why not do it like this:

Oh god...I share the same state with you....
I guess it was time to move south.

There you go. Two tidy little lines instead of 7, and the same point gets across.

Is there supposed to be something funny about that quote? I see quotes in sigs all the time that make no sense whatsoever. I'm sure they don't to anyone else either.

Here's a thought, get rid of it all together. It's stupid.

Moderators will be able to edit signatures in vBulletin 3.0, so hopefully they will be able to enforce our guidelines easily in the coming future.

would 'asshat' be an offensive word even if it is used in a joke?

Only Rumple Club members know what asshats are...don't think they're that offensive though. ;)

No, asshat doesn't really offend me though some might find it so. I haven't gotten any complaints.

On the other hand, DODGE The VIPER, your signature is 9 lines long and really should be smaller. You could probably make it fit the guidelines by eliminating the
tag around the "opinion" line.

Yeah, done and done...I finally realised that it was too long as well a day or two ago...There was also a spelling mistake...which I found shocking.

And you've also stuffed up the close italics tag as well.

Dang, I always forget you have the special gift. :)

Thanks for the offer for assistance AltF8. :D

I can see the point of it but some are not really that over the top in size yet fail to meet the criteria. I suppose I can understand it in the long run in setting a limit.
