There's a teaser of the upcoming Silent Hill movie here. Just right click and "save as" to download (less than 2 meg).
Also the site is here.

If the film plays out like the teaser it could be good....better than the Resi films anyway.
Still, it could be crap.
 
I hope it stays true to the game. It looks like the movie is based on Silent Hill 3. I think a movie based on the original game would have been better. I would hope that Sony Pictures took heed to any suggestions made by Sony Computer Entertainment and Konami.
 
My Dad talks to a guy in Canada, and this guy has been working as a pickup on the set for Silent Hill, hes sending us a T-Shirt and a call sheet for the film.

I also hope they stick to the same format as the games, if they do this will be one of the best horror movie for a long while.

I wonder if it will be better then Doom movie.
 
I could'nt say. I haven't seen the Doom movie. Certainly it will be better than any Uwe Boll attempt - anyone seen "Alone in the Dark"? Word of advice - don't!! IMDB has a few things to say about it!
The only problem I could see in Silent Hill is if the story is too silly and far fetched. Most films of this type demands a certain amount of "suspension of disbelief". But videogame stories tend to be a bit more "unbelieveable" than many films. Still Silent Hill has a fairly workable story I guess. Really it's the writing of the film that's important.

Anyone seen Christophe Gans last feature film, "Brotherhood of the Wolf"? It's okay, somewhat far-fetched but an enjoyable romp non-the-less! And it has Monica Bellucci in it too!! :drool: :D
 
There's a new trailer out. Shows a fair bit more of the look and feel of the film. Essentially it is the game! Silent Hill Trailer
It seems to be based on the original game except it's a female lead, not a male.
 
They actually filmed the movie here in my city, and those buildings you see as she's walking through the town is what we call our "great city". They transformed our downtown into the city you see in the movie. Sad part is, when it was all done up for the movie, it actually looked better then what our downtown normally looks like, which is nothing more then boarded up windows with people painted on them to look like real stores...SERIOUSLY, my city is that sad.

It was pretty cool to walk and drive around on the "set" when they weren't filming. Unfortuantly the stars of the movie stayed almost 2 hours away from our city, because theres no hotels good enough for them within 100km, so I never got to meet any of them.

Hopefully it stays close enough to the game to keep a fan base. Silent Hill had more of a plot to build a movie around, then say "Doom", so I could see it being one of the better video game to big screen movies out there.
 
looks like this could be one of the better game to film conversions, lets just hope so anyway becasue i love the games. im sure there will be changes from the actual event from the first game but i hope they do the canges in a sympathetic way.

I don't know of any good game to film conversion so far, so I hope it is far better than what has already been done (Super Mario, Resident Evil, Streetfighter, Tomb Raider...).
It's funny to see that the trailer reminds all games. slackbladder mentioned the original game, Viper Zero mentioned SH3, and I find that Sean Bean (who plays in the movie) looks like James Sunderland, the main character of SH2

Nothing, repeat nothing can be worse than Super Mario Bros. The Movie.

Except maybe Double Dragon The Movie.
And Street Fighter The Movie.
And Alone In The Dark...
And Doom The Movie.

Nevermind.

As for "good" video game movies, I thought Mortal Kombat was at least watchable, if not somewhat entertaining.

They should make a Contra movie. That would work.
 
I never got into Silent Hill (the game), it was just boring to me. Not scary at all (fair enough if you were, i just dont scare).

I think it has a good premise so assuming they dont screw it up to much, this should be at least passable. Depends if there going to make it a PG13 horror!?
 
I've never played "Doom", and I liked the movie. I've never played "Silent Hill" either, so I might like it? :D I saw "The Hills Have Eyes" over the weekend, saw the trailer for "Silent Hill", I thought it looked pretty good. Sean Bean's awesome, isn't he? 👍
 
Yes Sean Bean is awesome. This movie actually looks pretty good, i really hope they don't screw it up because the Silent Hill franchise has such potential as a movie. I mean, if they could capture the feeling you get when you play the games it would be truly terrifying.

Does anyone know what the certificate is going to be, because i really want to go see it at the cinema :)
 
This film looks quite good...they seem to have captured the feel of Silent Hill. Lets hope it delivers the same psychological horror though.
 
Ahhh, I still think about that damn elementary from the first one. I don't have high expectations, but i'll see it when it comes out.
 
It's also nice to see they've included 'alternate' Silent Hill.
 
yeh this looks like its going to be true to the games, as konami have had alot to do with the making of it.

Shame the little baby ghosts with knives arnet in :( they totally freaked me out when I first played it, I bet tho that as soon as she gets to the piano room she spends half the film trying to figure out the puzzle :D

Then she dies facing Pyramid Head becuase of the crappy controls :lol:.
 
Watched the trailer for this that came on a free DVD from total film. & from what i can remember it looks pretty tru to the game. I didnt think much of the game to be honest, not scary & not very good. But i do want to see this.
 
I saw this trailer before V for Vendetta and it looked good. I have only played a demo for Silent Hill 3 and so I don't have a lot of game knowledge to go off of.
 
If you don't know the game, it's time to consider buying the Silent Hill Collection, that will be launched in April (along with the movie) and feature all 3 SH games released on the PS2, for the price of one normal game.
