Hello!
I'm considering buying a midrange pc to try some PC sims like GTR2, rFactor 2 etc, but I'm really struggling to find the right sort of computer! I've got a budget of about £400-£500 for the PC itself. If there's anyone with an idea of the required specs who knows a particular model to look at, or a good custom pc shop (with a 'simple' website) please let me know! :)

Any computer is good for you that has an Intel Core i5 (Ivy Bridge or Haswell), Gtx 760 or Radeon 7950 and 8Gb of RAM.

great shop, been using it for years. great service, competitive prices

they sell pre-built quality systems at different price points, but better to build it yourself to save some £. it's actually very easy, unless you don't know how to use a screwdriver

the site has a forum section which is very active. plenty of knowledgeable people there to give you great advice about specs, parts, how to build etc... http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/ just start a "spec me" thread in the general section with your budget and what you plan on using it for (also do you need screen, OS, keyboard etc...) I knew nothing about computers and decided to build my own years ago, it was easier than I ever thought, it's cheaper, you choose better components than any retail pre-built system for same price. once you build your own PCs you never go back to buying pre-built. it's that easy and better

I can't give you specs since I don't play those games, and not up to date on latest hardware since been over a year since I upgraded anything on my PC. but I doubt you need a beast of a computer to play them, unless you want triple screen, plan on adding lots of peripherals and addon apps running simultaneously

aborted installations?

really not difficult. if you can install a game, you can install an OS

just pop in the OS install disk, select a drive for install, activate OS key. Update windows. job done. no 3rd party bloatware

Thank you all, you've been really helpful. I didn't realise how close the Overclockers shop was to me, so I visited them today. I've pretty much nailed down a spec now! :)
