Simple online question

I want to do an 'trackday' with my mate in the UK at the weekend. However, he's only just got his PS3/GT5 combo and hasn't unlocked the 'Ring yet (the track we want to use).

If I host the event, can he still join, or does he have to have the track unlocked in his game profile as well?

Yes he should be able to join your room. My first online race was a night race at the Nurburgring and I hadn't unlocked the track either so unless they have changed it since then you should be right.
