Now you would think, of all things motorsport happening in the world, that PD would take full notice of this. Lets just focus on paragraph number two..
""Nissan has thrown a bit more downforce at the vehicle's front end, and the factory (rear) wing has been replaced as well, but the engine, transmission and suspension all remain unaltered from the factory Club Track edition. The competition vehicle will wear slightly wider tires, as well as safety cage and a larger fuel cell to accommodate the race regulations. The factory brakes have also been swapped out for more aggressive hardware.""
Ok, the ONLY thing from this list that gran turismo allows us to do to our cars as we prepare them for the racetrack is add a big honking rear wing. I would say "don't get me started" but too late!! I've already started!
.
*Front splitter -- even casual motorport fans should now understand that the simple addition of an aero splitter under the front bumper is one of the quickest, easiest ways to drop lap times significantly. C'mon.
*Tire Width -- this has been hammered by many astute GT5ers. More rubber please. (or less if you're into that like Chris Harris) ; )
*Safety Cage -- Not many tracks will allow you to just tromp around their facilities without a rollcage- a must for driver safety. This adds a little weight, but increases rigidity quite a bit, also. We have interiors now- wouldn't it be cool to see those bars running along the pillars? Maybe we could use those fantastic "paint chips" on it....
*Fuel Cell -- I understand safety in a simulation is irrelevant, but the ability to alter the weight and laps we can go without refueling would seem fairly important to anyone interested in realism, which I know a good number of us are..
*Racing Brakes -- OHH now, would ya look at that? The guys at Nissan think brake upgrades matter. Funny how no one at PD, including the contingent of them who have their noses in close proximity to the hind quarters of Nissan (*cough*.. KAZ) think the same way. Hmmm..
So, in review, out of this short list of CRITICAL upgrades to a stock (kinda) vehicle by Nissan- Gran Turismo allows us virtual racers to do just one. - Big honking rear wing.
Driving Simulator, your time is up. We want to race now.
