Simple Split-Screen Question

So I've been stuck playing Forza 3 lately since GT5 is at home, and I'm playing split screen with my friend who has no understanding of a driving line. In split screen, there are no mirrors, which got me wondering if GT5 had a mirror in split screen mode. Now I'm even curious if GT5 is 2 player.
 
Mirror in GT5 single player is basically another window of the game, which is rendered at extremely low detail and resolution.
2 player mode has this and many other things taken away...
 
Yes. GT5 has split-screen and yes, certain views have the mirror available.

It's rubbish, doesn't even have replays of your races. How could any self-respecting racing game developer release a game for a console with no split-screen replays!!!??

oh, wait.

Actually the GT5 split-screen mode is really quite excellent now. (You need the updates).

Graphics are nice, you don't have the stupid volumes of smoke, and the replays look great and can be saved and then viewed full screen later on.
