I've been a GT fan since the previews of GT1 were coming out. And all this time, I've wanted a few features in GT. Those features would pertain to the experience the player has when working on the car, buying parts, etc. In GT3, of course, it's all point and click, very little choice in anything, and not realistic at all.

So, does anyone know what improvements have been made in this area? My long time dream, which is unlikely to come true, would be to have a GTA-esque city that you could actually drive around in, and go to the dealers, stores, garages, etc. Imagine, instead of just a menu, going to the car dealership, and you'd actually see the inside of a dealership, with the cars inside, and when you changed cars in the selectio, the camera would move to look at them. The garage would work the same way. Or, in a parts store, you'd see something like an Autobacs, and you would see the different parts on the shelves. It wouldn't hurt the ease of anything, because the controls for doing everything would be the same, except for the replacement of the icons and illustrations in GT3 with a 3D store interior.

For another example, whe installing parts and tuning, it'd be cool to have a customizable garage, like in Auto Modellista. When you would select areas to work on, the camera would move. For visible parts, the camera would point at them, and they would appear in their places. For underside parts, the car would raise on the lift.

I know these ideas are unlikely, but what has been done to the interface? And on another note, what would you guys like to see in the interface?

I hope they do do that that would make the game 3X better than the previous games.

ps:can you post some pics of auto modellista

:)

that would be good, but that's not the point of the game -

its to simulate car behaviour on a circuit.

Some costomisation is possible but once again, thats not the primary objective of the game.

yes but I too have had a thing about that... but more in a street racing game.. Just like the GTA games... where you drive around a city and go to diffrent body shops and auto stores and look for the best prices and some places might have sales and what not and to me that would be much more enjoyable... in GT it might work well but in my opinion in a street racing game with open city streets i think it will work better. If any racing game had this feature with a strong game play and graphics to back it up then the game would be a total hit...

Absolutely. :)

It would make things too complicated, though, wouldn't it? First off, you can't drive your Zonda race car down the street to the dealer, so PD would have to create a truck and trailer for you to use for those purposes. Then, you have to wait at lights... God forbid you have a fender bender situation going, then you gotta exchange insurance papers and all... Feh.

:D

I dunno... It's nice to have realism in tuning - and more importantly, viable options and variety, but when you've gotten to your 100th car being tuned, you're going to get annoyed. I already get annoyed by the tuning page, and I keep hoping they'll streamline it in some way, if not include an "All Upgrade" function, so you don't have to go through the fifty needless keystrokes just to get it done. Sure they're only keystrokes, but then that's my point. Bargain hunting? Ludicrous.

It's a nice idea, really... you'll just hate it after a week or two. And, all told, a lot of wasted space on the disc.

I doubt it'd happen in near future but you can always dream :)

I think online games in the future say 10 years ought to start getting near that stage.

What I'm waiting for is a game like GTA3 that has cars that look as good as the cars in GT3,and that has pedestrians that look as good as the people in Metal Gear Solid Sons of Liberty.

That would never happen in a GT game, it would take far too long to do and eat away at preciouse disk space and processing power, also it would detract from the racing too much, I would like them to bring back a GT2 style map with the different dealerships on it rather than one icon where you get all the dealers together.

that is exactly the kind of game i have wanted for years. GTA / Racing with gran turismo graphics and physics. they have a mod for GTA3 that replaces all the cars with like BMW M5's SLK's Lamborghini's, and a TOYOTA SUPRA!! I cant get enough, i just go around town drving my cars from one garage to another. Maybe I just need a life. But the game is so much more fun with real cars.

It would add a new dimension to the game. The cost of owning a non street legal car would be more because you would need a trailer to transport it etc. i think it would be cool as hell.

To be honest that sounds like a load of rubbish. Its a driving simulator, not a garage and part fitting simulator, less pointless crap and more racing!!!!!!

I love this idea, and my friend and me have often said we wished GTA and GT were combined.

And going to the store to buy parts sounds great.

A nice, clean, no BS interface.

Um, no.
