Just a few photos of my sis' new BMW. She seemed too excited to keep the camera still though...which is why the dark shots look a bit better.

Anyways, the story behind it is a simple one. My sis' has been driving a junker Mitsubishi after she got rid of her previous car. Well, her birthday is still coming up, but Dave and I thought it'd be a nice present to get her back into a BMW.

It has no options, as far as I can tell since Dave was the one who took delivery of it, and is also an auto, but I think she's just glad to have a BMW again.

Cute car.

I still can't get over the fact that the 328i is the base model. When I was born, there wasn't even a model as high as the 328, but there was a 528. Not to mention at that time the 535 was the highest 5-series, while it's now the highest 3-series.

Nice Beemer! Your sister is pretty damn lucky. 👍

Who really needs options on a BMW 328i? All I would want is the Convenience package. So that the key can roam free.

2 questions...

Is your sister hot, and where do I go to pick her up?!

Well, she's engaged. So I don't think a date would be in question. Esp. not when her fiance just got her this. :p

In that case, is her fiance hot, and where do I go to pick him up?!

Post pics of sister or ban.

Kidding ;)

Very nice car. No options, huh? So it's got the leatherette?

It's hard to believe the 328 is more powerful than the 330 from just two model years ago.

Well, I'm not too familiar with the 328i (I always like to get the model that has a little more "meat on its bones" ;) ), so I probably wouldn't know if it had options since my car's options usually included big changes. Like I said, Dave was the one who took delivery, so there might be options that I'm not seeing since, again, options I pick out usually include a seeable difference.

I've gotta stop repeating myself in posts.

Admit it, it's hard to tell the difference between leatherette and the real deal.

It depends. Visually it's almost impossible. And most people can't tell the difference if they just sit in the car and aren't paying attention. Leathrette owners always talk of friends getting in the car and telling them how nice the 'leather' is. They swear by it. But if you compare the two back to back, you can tell. You really have to be looking for it, though.

But it also depends on what type of leather you're comparing against. My wife's Nissan has leather on the seating surfaces and synthetic on the sides of the seat (like most cars) and you'd never known unless you spent a minute comparing the two. OTOH, I doubt anyone can make a synthetic that can match the Z4's Nappa interior.

Plus, leather breathes and synthetic doesn't.

Anyway, I wasn't trying to start a debate between leather and synthetic, I was just making conversation. You know, like "oh, nice TV, does it do 1080p?" or "hey your wife got a boob job; how that's workin for you?"

...so McLaren, has she let you drive it yet?

I'm well aware, I just wanted to discuss it a bit. Your take is interesting, and I agree that in most cases it'd be hard to tell apart without a side-by-side comparison. Much better than cloth, then. 👍

Well, she hasn't let me in the choice that she asked if I wanted to, but I got to drive it from her home to mine to keep it a surprise.

And it rides amazingly well. The suspension feels a lot softer than mine, and it still has the ability to get up and go.
