Site slower after server move?

Just found it quite annoying, not sure if I am alone.

If you click the bar that the popup comes from then it just pops down again... but it's not a very nice interface feature and I'm not sure it's intentional.

Since the last upgrade the ping to GTPlanet is unchanged but posting messages is very slow and sometimes just results in the page refreshing with all the text gone. I've tested it on Firefox and GC (only on one machine though) and I get the same effect on both.

Just logged back on and it's taking about 20 seconds for a reply to post. I guess there are more upgrades going on, the site normally seems bulletproof!

Jordan posted here - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...eatures-and-site-changes.296680/#post-9749662 that he moved to a new datacenter and I guess for whatever reason it's not performing as well as the old one for us in Europe.

I'm very sorry to hear that, but I'm not entirely convinced this is an issue with the new server. Aggregate data from my monitoring tools show no perceptible change in performance or load times in the UK or western Europe.

The old server is still online, though, so you can test this for yourself. Just open a command prompt (on Windows) or Terminal (on a Mac) and type ping gtplanet.net and then ping s3.gtplanet.net. Copy and paste the results here so I can take a look at them.

I usually have lag when posting messages. The same issue persists (albeit more commonly) in GTAForums which also got updated recently. I wonder if these new forum softwares are too heavy for ordinary people's computers?

I'm very sorry to hear that, but I'm not entirely convinced this is an issue with the new server. Aggregate data from my monitoring tools show no perceptible change in performance or load times in the UK or western Europe.

The old server is still online, though, so you can test this for yourself. Just open a command prompt (on Windows) or Terminal (on a Mac) and type ping gtplanet.net and then ping s3.gtplanet.net. Copy and paste the results here so I can take a look at them.

It's not constantly slower for me, mostly it's as fast as it always has been. Just every now and then it gets sluggish, then picks up again. If I remember i'll note the times in future.

My iPhone was lightning-quick enough for me; GTP is fast depending on your techno- POV.

OTOH - my Toshiba tablet running Chrome made me go away and fix a cup of tea.
