I’ve recently come up with a rather simple idea on paper that really could help PD to choose car selections for future updates that would please a broader audience without sacrificing Gran Turismo’s philosophy, and I’d like to share this with you guys.
It all goes down to six “simple” rules to follow. I say simple in quotes because while the idea may seem appealing, I really don’t know how complex it is for Polyphony to actually follow this. But still, it’s an interesting concept that could perfectly work even with a 3-car selection, which has become the most common scenario for a content update.
The six rules are as follows:
AT LEAST ONE CAR SHOULD BE:
As you can see, these requirements actually complement each other, which contributes to the sheer variety PD always seek for content updates. I think strictly complying with these six steps could eventually work even better than replying to any specific car suggestion or wishlist in the long term.
Finally, for a practical example, let’s evaluate this month’s 1.69 update using only these six rules as parameters:
1 – At least one car should be a road car
2 – At least one car should be a race car
3 – At least one car should be from the 20th century
4 – At least one car should be from the 21st century
5 – At least one car should be new to the series
6 – At least one car should be a returning car
Requirements met: 4/6

AT LEAST ONE CAR SHOULD BE:
A road car | From the 20th century (consequently a UCD/LCD car) | New to the series |
A race car | From the 21st century (consequently a Brand Central car) | A returning car |
