in the land of stupidity
I've never done this before but as some other members make threads about their vacation, I thought, what the heck, let's make a thread about my ski vacation to Austria.

I don't have photos and videos of this trip at the moment but I will in a few days and will post them here => photos and videos.

Me and 4 other friends left for Austria, Stubaier glacier, not far from Innsbruck on sunday februari 7, 2010 at 6 am.
It was still very dark and I had problems staying awake and I was feeling very depressed, again. As I had to take the lead with my car, my 4 other friends were behind me in a Mercedes Vito CD110, didn't know how to get there exactly.

After a while, it was still dark, we pit-stopped for the first time and one of my friends decided to come and sit with me because I said that I had problems staying awake.

Everything went well and we arrived at 4.15 pm at Falbesoner Gasthof in Neustift Stubai. It was a 10 hour drive because my friends decided to stop every 2 hours to stretch their legs and get some coffee. This was against my nature but it was a nice change of how I travel. I normally only stop for filling up the car. As my friend's Vito isn't the fastest van, I had to drive very 'slow'. Slow is relative because 120 - 140 kph is slow. :D

So we arrived at 4.15 pm, checked in, unpacked and went straight to the bar were we got a welcome drink => schnaps (obsler).
At around 6.30 pm we went to the dining room to get our first warm meal.

The first day, monday, turned out to be a surprise.

  1. our skipass was cheaper than we expected
  2. no clouds in the sky
  3. perfect snow conditions
Not much to report about skiing itself.

Second day, tuesday, turned out to be a second surprise.

  1. no clouds in the sky
  2. perfect snow conditions
Third day, wednesday turned out to be yet another surprise

  1. no sun but it was overcast
  2. still perfect snow conditions
  3. more snow to come
Fourth day, thursday, didn't bring any suprise.

  1. still overcast and a lot of fog
  2. it was clearing up in the afternoon.
Fifth day, friday, was, .... .

  1. very nice because there were no clouds in the sky
  2. snow and ski conditions were even better than the previous days.
We decided to stop skiing at 3.20 pm and went home.

Normally, I always drive via Aachen, Köln, Frankfurt, Würzburg, Nurnberg, München but this time we decided to take a different route. Garmisch Partenkirchen, Stuttgard, Koblenz, Aachen. The route is shorter but it still took us 10 hours to get home. :ouch:

Well that's all for this post. I'm not good in writing reports about a vacation. I hope that the photos and videos turn out to be of a very good quality.

Bye!

It seems you had some good old fun there.👍👍

Happy to see you had a good time! :dunce:

'Ahhhhhhh ik krijg krampen, ik moet stoppen!'
Yep, I was skiing backwards and filming at the same time. I had to control my speed or I was going too fast. I'm not used to ski backwards. :p

This has nothing to do with the ski trip. I'm not going to make a new thread about it but there's going to be a new indoor ski 'arena' in Belgium, not far from Brussel.

No English version, only French and Dutch. :grumpy:

Kikie, This may be a bit strong but,...I hate you! :grumpy:

It was bad enough for me having to sit at home and watch the Winter Olympics. I haven't been skiing for a couple of years now, and get easily agitated when I see stuff like this :ouch:

It sounds/looks like you had perfect conditions, I'm very jealous.
