This is my first post here, though I've been reading through lots of posts since I joined a few weeks ago. Lots of good info for setups and such here, so thanks to all for that.

So onto the topic of my post. I have been working on the seasonal races as I find them a great challenge and good at restoring some of the skill I've lost not playing for so many years. After many tries the best I was able to do on the #5 Skyline SS5 event was 2nd place. I kept tuning the car trying to get rid of the understeer, but I still could not get lap times better than 1:30. I've read the threads that mentioned Skid Recovery Force makes these events cake, so the other night after a few tries and still being 5 or 6 seconds behind 1st place I decided to try with Skid Recovery on. (I always try to run without any aids) I didn't alter my driving style at all, but it was evident when Skid Recovery was engaging. The car would get more grip at the front instead of washing out. Even with Skid Recovery I still only got 2nd place, but after that run I turned it off and focused on the corners where it was engaging. I altered my driving there by trying to take a tighter line or braking more. My first lap was 1:29, then I started setting some 1:28's. After a brain fade on lap three I started over and was consistently able to set 1:28's and even a few 1:27's and finish first.

So, is Skid Recovery a good tool to see where you are losing time? At least in this instance for me it was.

I should also mention I've been playing GT since the first one (though I skipped Prologue). I haven't touched a game in about 4 or 5 years, so when I saw the previews for GT5 I had to jump back in. I'm still using a controller (DS3), but I've taken the plunge and ordered a Fanatec :)
