The Skoda Octavia Scout is your ticket to driving a normal estate car, but one that still hold its own with crossovers over rougher terrain.

Being a Scout, this particular variant of Octavia estate already comes well equipped, though there are higher level options on offer, like Intelligent Light Assistant and Park Assist, or a rear-view parking camera. Another option is the six-speed DSG gearbox, which can be had over the standard six-speed manual.

The styling of the car has its off-road benefits, too, with better approach and departure angles than the car it replaces, while the protective wheel arch mouldings and underbody cladding make it look the part. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels as standard, and if the images are anything to go by, those rims will be fitted with high profile (possibly 70-aspect) tyres.
In Europe, Skoda says there will be a choice of two diesel engines and one petrol powertrain for the new model, but we’d suggest it will likely be sold here with just one powertrain, a 2.0-litre turbo diesel with a dual-clutch automatic transmission. That variant was the primary seller for the previous-generation Scout, which has now been discontinued.
