Sky broadband disconnects when phone rings

I thought the GTP community could offer some tips as I really have no clue what I am doing. When I am playing online on ps3, xbox, iPod or PC whenever the phone goes my connection completely cuts out, wifi and everything, it's the bane of my life in the middle of a race, I'm currently in a race championship and it's really annoying and I have to disconnect the phone line just to get the online working at all

I had this, it was a faulty filter. It also wouldn't work if I had my phone line plugged in my sky box. So I just removed it and it worked fine from then on.
 
The filter must be on ALL phones in the house, not just the jack where the DSL modem is.
 
Yeah, I had this problem before too.
You have to have filters on all the lines in the house.
That will help significantly.
 
Like others I had this problem in a early days when I first got broadband, you just have to put filters on all the sockets and it should solve the problem.
 
Doesn't have to be on ALL the jacks, just the ones with phone equipment connected. Answering machines, modems, handsets, anything. If it's a phone, the filter need to be on the jackThe filter separates the old-style analog signal from the higher frequency DSL signal. Without the filter the analog phone "spills over" and wipes out the DSL signal and you lose your Internet connection.
 
This happens to me too. I've done what Sky said and connected the master socket, changed the microfilter (we have multiple phone sockets but only one is connected to the phone line so we obviously have no phones or equipment plugged in elsewhere) and it still disconnects.

Seemingly, if you ask Sky about it, they'll blame BT, and if you ask BT about it, they'll blame Sky. It can be fixed, but I don't know what they need to do in order to fix it. Try the Skyuser forums for more info and help.

I have this too- very annoying when I'm winning a Race in GT5 Online then I get the light flashing on my router. :grumpy:
 
I've also got this with BT Broadband, oddly though it only disconnects when you put the phone down. It will stay connected while it rings and while someone is having a conversation yet as soon as the phone is put down the connection drops out for about 20 seconds.
