anyone fans of the skyline? i'm getting the impression that everyone wants one. Don't get me wrong, the racing ones and tuners are great, but a basic skyline isn't that awesome. the handling is a little hard and the... well... it's just not that great. any thoughts?

The handling is great on a Skyline compared to other cars in it's class.

I can't say anything about GT4, but I felt the same way about the GT3 Skyline until I really learned how you're supposed to handle a 4WD car. I'm not trying to say you're a bad driver, but maybe the problem is that you're trying to drive it like it's RWD?

i've always enjoyed driving the skyline, not perse that it is a good car, it's more of a "legend" here in holland and i've never seen one in reallife. So driving it in a game, is as close i can get to it. thats possibly why i chose it over a subaru impreza, just because i dont see it overhere!

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I am quite a skyline fan myself, but not hardcore! :O I just gotta say that anything to wins very often will ikely be one of those cars that everyone wants. The Skyline have won many races and if you check out its racing record...whoa! :O I personally think that people need to open their eyes abit more on the skyline, because if it won so much...it should't be called something like "its ok" or "its not that awesome"...

Its awesome to most because look at the racing records

They are an absolute weapon on the track in reality. The best thing about them is that they dont have the traditional understeer of a AWD car as its RWD most of the time untill traction becomes an issue. And its short stroke motor loves to rev.

I love the R32 S-tune in GT3 and the Mines R34 is devistating on super soft slicks.
The only car that I think has bad handeling is that RUF AWD turbo car in the game. I never really got the hang of it as it waws king of understeer.

When you compare it to race cars, of course it will seem soft and slippery and overall not to great handling wise, but when comparing it to other road cars of its class, I'm sure it can hold its own 👍.

The Skyline is probably one of the best cars in it's class. Sure the handling might be hard to get used to at first but it's still a rocket on the straights and can turn on a dime if tuned properly.

Agreed! While I am a Subaru man at heart, I've enjoyed my opportunities to have driven in the R32, R33, and R34 Skylines (both on Shutoko and along the Hakone turnpike) but by far, the most exciting has been to hit the speed limiter in my brother's canary yellow '98 NSX.

Nothing compares to hearing the NSX engine right behind your left ear (in Japan, of course) growl when you drop it a gear and floor the accelerator...

As much as I love the stock Skyline, My heart always go to the NSX.

Guess that depends on your background, I suppose.

I'm a huge fan of the old GT-R R32 generation for some reason or another...

For some reason or another, i'm also a huge fan of R32........it's so ... rugged 👍 It's so.....fun to drive....it looks so much cooler than the R33 and 34 : :scared: 👍

perhaps its someting to do with the lack of "sence of speed" in gt3, anything that isnt 500+ BHP seems to crawl round the track after you'v driven some of the faster cars. im hoping GT4's is a lot better with this (and from what iv seen in vids it is). meaning that talking a stock skyline/nsx/supra/impreza/lancer bla bla bla will still have an element of fun to it even after you'v raced with the faster cars

It was my choice of "high end" car in GT1 when everyone else was grabbing the 3000gt Pig because it boasted the "highest HP in the game!" They had to make up for poor handling with raw power, while I sailed through the courses on an actual racing line.

However, as much as I like the Skyline....I'd really like to see more versions of other cars instead of 43 Skylines. Saying that your game boasts 650 cars but you have ONE MODEL being that high of a percentage...you should just say your game has 600 cars to be more truthful.

I like the Skyline GT-R. It has very good cornering and oversteer. I can drift within stock (Attesa E-T-S).

Well problem is that the Skyline is not a high end car. The Skyline GT-R V-Spec 2 is a high end car.
A standsard skyline is nothing to look at. Could get school by a damn Taurus! Skylines are okay, but their wieght gets the best of them.
My car of choice is a Ford Mustang. There is a Stang for everyone. The ladies can get a nice little V6 while the guys can get a n/ v8 all the way up to a supercharged 390 hp beast! And the Stang is the most popular car in the USA, has sold more than any other car.
Granted the GT-R skylines are okay, but other than that they aren't largly impressive. And when it comes to the USA in 2006 as an 07 model, nobody will care since weill:
2007 USA Skyline competitors:
2007 Mustang SVT Cobra (500+ hp)
Mach 1 mustang with be back with 370+
Gt Stang will be at 325 hp
GM revives Camaro!
z28 making 350 hp
SS making 400+
Dodge Charger with Hemi 345 hp
Dodge Charger SRT-8 hemi 425 hp
GTO is expected to be redone on the new camaro platform.

All of these cars fall in the $30,000 to $45,000 category.
Except the Mustang GT, only $25,000 there.
So the Skyline will have alot f competitors in the form of American muscle.
especialy since we only getting a performance model. GT-R. Shut-up to anyone who says it isn't true. We all seen the spy pics and heard the words from Nissan. All of the big magezines are reporting it. Reason we only gettin the high performance version is that we already have the g35 and g35 sedan, which are skylines in japan. So yeha Skylines are okay, but expect it to be swamped if nissan gives us a flaccid wanna-be GT-R since alot of very competitive **** coming around the same time or just before...

Same here. They just seem cleaner, meaner, more badass than the R33s & R34s. :dopey:

Outstanding...

Wow....that's an awsome picture 👍

And Ford 429 Hemi, would you please stop comparing 280hp car with excelellent handling with some power boats that consume at least 30 litres of fuel for 100 km.....and some of them can't even go around a hairpin bend without backing up and trying again......

And something else....before you could afford any car on that list, you would already have 3 used R32s in a Japanese garage right now.....

Edit: Not trying to start a flame war or something....but......oh well :scared:

Just a question...

I think my friend is full of himself.

Is it possible for a R34 body to fit over a R33 chasis. I found some info that said the R33 chassis is smaller than the R34 body by a few mm. So wouldn't that mean that the R34 Body would be a bit big for the R33 chassis?

My favorite Skyline was the Calsonic Skyline. However it was both the R32 and R34 versions. I love that the 93' R32 version is in GT4 cant wait to drive it.+ 👍

I'm more of a Muscle Car person myself, I like Skylines, Just not Intensly, I definatly like more fo the "snap your neck" stuff, such as mustangs, But seriously I really hope you didnt mean "Ford 429 Hemi" Because seriously...jus....just....seriously....

Sorry.....It's just that they can't be compared directly in the same class.....they're all great cars, but the purposes they were built fore were vastly different.....

i don't want to say the muscle cars are crap, but why did he come in a Skyline thread and lay down like 10 muscle cars....it's like mixing bananas with onions....

Well older muscle cars I'd completely Agree with about the "obviousness of what they we're built for" but as for cars such as the 350HP GTO drives and Handles like A Dream, Its An all around great car, the 2005 Model Has 400HP so It shows its just going to get faster (as it should)

Everyone has a preference on cars, but facts remain that Cars will only make them As fast as the owner wants them, I've seen Ford Rangers with 5.0s in them that haul A**, So it bassically just comes down to what car styling you like the best.

I'm VERY biased to GM cars, SS, Z28's, Trans AMs, GTO's Etc, I hate it when I have a No~brained Civic Roll up Next to my Mustang, I do respect Skylines though as are a select few others, but I would never really want to own one, Its all about personal Prefrence :) You can make a car Go as fast as you want, Just costs Lots of money :)

The R32 skyline is pretty nice "old school" my fav of the skylines:) The skylines is very boxy and simple design which is boring :indiff:

But supras are nicer
