So, I'd like to add an SLI-PRO module to the Ferrari rim on my T500RS.

I want it to look similar to this:

Yet, I'm not playing sims on my PC atm. The plan would be to add 4 rotary encoders to it, so that I can change LED brightness etc. on the fly.

So I'd like it to display some default information and have some questions regarding that.

- Is it possible to power the module using the 2nd USB slot on my PS3?
- Is it possible to display a clock on the display without it being attached to a PC?
- Is it possible to run a timer on the display without it being attached to a PC?
- Is it possible to turn on / off the aforementioned things by using rotary encoders? Like turning it left will turn it on, turning it right will turn it off.
- Is it possible to keep the LEDs on all the time? At around 20% or so, of course.
- Is it possible to display a dash (-) in the middle? Instead of the gear I'm currently in.
- Best solution would be: clock on the left side, stopwatch on the right side. Would that be possible without attaching it to a PC? I.e. will it keep the time settings or would I have to reset it every time I'm turning it on?
- Will it fit into the "hole" on top of the F1 rim firmly? Would I have to cut something out?

After all, it'll just add to the immersion and won't do anything practical at the moment. Some people did that for PC sims but I doubt many (read: anyone) people did it for the sole purpose of console gaming. :)

Mr.S The Sli-Pro would simply not work without a pc, Leo create the device to work in conjunction with sli manager the Ek software produce.
I have recently done a quick review under my signature there is a link and video in it.

It will fit inside t500 f1 rim apparently however some trimming of the plastic is required, I believe someone here has already done so.

Yes you can put up to 8 rotary encoders if you want and 6 rotary switches, if you want to loose all the buttons , since 2 buttons is also equal to 1 encoder.
For rotary switch you can only use the one on leo's website as he uses 3 wires instead of 36 for one rotary switch, for rotary encoders , anything from ebay with 3 pins will work and can also be replaced with toggle switches.

Here's the manual and wiring diagram if you haven't seen them already.

Good luck

To answer some of your questions above also.

No the clock is on the right panel, however if you are fluent with LUA script language, you can script it to run anywhere you want i believe but even then only onpc , zappadoc from eksimracing is very helpfull and can probably answer some of your questions.

Rotary to turn on and off the device is possible but would require a different type of rotary encoders much like some car stereo, and wiring is a bit different, you would wire the on/ off to the 5 v of the usb instead of the sli and turning it on would be connection to the power and vice versa, when i revamp my button box again i might add a permanent one way on/ off toggle switch to turn the slipro on and off, much like the missile switch i currently have now for the rest of the buttons on the box.

Hope this helps

Marcus

Thanks for all the answers - so I'd have to hook the USB cable up to my PC or notebook. Well, I could simply start the software with Windows, that way I wouldn't have to take a look at the PC after turning it on. After all, a rotary switch would probably be sufficient for changing the information on the display, encoders would be a bit much indeed.

Then again, all the wiring stuff etc. shouldn't be much of a problem for an electrician, uh? My roomie is an eletrician, so that wouldn't be too bad. :)

Oh and by turning on and off I meant the information on the display - not the module itself. I guess that's always on once it's being powered by the USB slot. :)

You're welcome, the display is self is always in off state, when there is no game running.
when a game starts the software starts sending instruction and you get "n" or "E" in the gear section and only when you start driving that the screen start to lit up,

ie in iRacing, if you shut your engine down, the sli-pro display will be off as well. some of the video (the beginning ) will have me turning oN the engine i think,

Uhm, wait a second - so I have to start a game on my PC in order to turn the SLI-PRO on? I hope not, that'd be silly.

Yes , see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vZ6SI3yf8A&feature=player_embedded
have a look when he turns of the engine and it's only showing "E" in the gear. that is only happen in game in pc only.

so when your game is off the screen will be off. not sure if there isa plugin to run without any game. ask EKsimracing forum maybe for a plugin just to run CET clock or clock in general. but from running it the past week or so, my experience with it is that display didn't run when no game is started.

eitherway, I hope this helps , but I really don't understand why you would want to run SLI-PRO just to run time (maybe mount a small $10 digital clock would suffice, instead of spending £107 for sli-pro) and don't want to connect to pc, there is only 1 usb cable .
I wish you luck nonetheless, it' s going to be a little adventure for sure, im still in it and trying to get the display to show me all sorts of stuff while in game.

Thanks - thing is, I don't know if I'll upgrade my PC this year plus it's an immersion thing. It doesn't always have to be useful to add to the immersion, as you know. :D

But I'll see if I can find a smaller display and maybe put some LEDs into it without attaching them to a PCB. Have to ask my friend, an electrician should know that stuff, hopefully. :)
