From what I can see Shift 2's model is very detailed, but they tried to "soften" it all for console users, which hasn't worked to well, as you can see in the post I linked to.
It also mentions WMD, their new project. Looks very promising as it focuses purely on the Sim aspect, purely on PC, then only after the PC version is done, they release that, then swap and change for console versions.
That's what I get from my small amount of research on it anyway.
Anyone else feel exited about this ?
Will probably be the best "Graphics accompanied with physics" sim racer out there on PC I bet. Because it will most definitely be based on the Shift 2 model, which would always look awesome
