Slow Accel When Switching Gear Up

Hi there,

Why can't cars like Cadillac Cien, Ford GT, Mercedez McClaren, etc. accelerate faster/more responsive when switching gear up? It's as if there is a lag. For example, let's say the rpm is at 8000 (gear 2), then I switch to gear 3. The rpm arrow would drop to 6000, but it takes awhile to accelerate faster as if the engine is collecting some torque first. I tried it with and without turbo kit or supercharger, no difference.

On contrary, other cars like Mitsu 3000GT, Acura NSX, Nissan 350Z, etc. do not have this kind of problem. The acceleration when switching gear up is smooth.

Any thought?

Thanks

I think it just has to do with the tranny and clutch. Try putting a triple plate clutch on the cars and it should help.

Have you tried the Peugeot 905? Now that's some shift lag, makes you wish it would change as fast as the Cien!

Darn, I guess, it's the nature of the cars then. What cars did you guys use to beat All American Competition (something like that)?

I'm pretty sure I used the '67 GTO for that. I put all the upgrades on it. It was like a race car :dopey: !

Thought this might not be the the real reason, but it could be the tires you're using, I doubt that. What I think though is the Traction Control settings you have, maybe if the TCS is high, it won't accelerate as fast because it doesn't want the tires spinning...

Thanks for all the replies, guys!

I use 5 for the TCS. That's the default. As for the other driving aids, I tuned them down to 4. My tires are Racing Medium 3.
