@Bologna_Duc

I was merely requesting clarification of what the rules are and how the series is run - As you are fully aware I am a newbie to both PS AND GT7 - This is all new to me and wanted to understand how an"Team" can compete in a "Team event" without a "Team" being allowed its full members

Nova - if asking clarification is "Being Critical" As Duc implies I want you to know it was not in judgement but in search of knowledge and understanding

I assumed that was allowed - those of us that are new to this may have questions - I hope were all adult enough to handle that.

Hi Ant,
Questions and inquiries are always welcome and encouraged. I think what was picked up by myself and a few others was a certain "questioning" connotation. That typically prompts a defensive reaction, especially from those that have a lot of experience with what they know has worked well for us and the amount of time invested in establishing the most fair yet competitive rulesets for the series. Most of us have no problem answering questions for clarification, but when it feels like questioning of rules or processes with no or limited experience in our series that we know works well for us, it can occasionally be received the wrong way. Moving forward, please continue to ask questions, but be sure to grab some race events before injecting suggestions. My hope is you will in fact become another regular of the Friday Night Racing Series'

Somwtimes written words can be taken in a context that was not intended.

I do look forward to participation and am excited at the opportunity to run amongst the zoomies - its a every interesting format that I still don't fully understand and most definitely will have more questions

I think as adults we can hopefully place egos aside and feelings to the curb when it comes to how one words a sentence or paragraph unless ill intent is blatantly obvious

As for the questioning and assumed "questioning" one can not grow without the ability to learn and the "system" or "current format" i can only assume is fluid and can change per your whim.

I merely pose a question regarding a "Team" event of a competitive nature where if a "Team" wins and takes pride in "The Win" and all its glory - I am unsure of the validity of the team event when not all members have a full "Team"

Seems as if the team win is invalid if all "Teams" are not allowed the same opportunity

Its not a criticism per say - But more of a issue I see in my eyes and don't feel as if I should not be allowed the opportunity to voice that opinion as a member.

I am now aware that the "Team" win is irrelivant in this matter due to the unfairness of not all "Teams" are allowed full members. I assume this point is obvious to all but was NOT to myself until I posed the questions i previously asked.

I do not control the format nor the participation allowed. I can only assume that your willing to allow the "algorythm" to change as the series continues - I offer my thoughts for you to ponder for future cups.

I and all that participate appreciation and thank you for all of your efforts towards this series of events. I am not criticizing but merely offering my thoughts in hopes that the "Team" aspect of this series can actual mean something vs an unfair "Team" advantage to some.

But as you stated the "Team" thought process is not real for this event other than a name and a few settings / practice

I am hoping that for future events there is a possibility to bring real team events where it matters

Regardless of what direction you take it is quite apparent that those that participate fully enjoy and grow from the experience. I look forward to participating / learning / growing through this experience

I have been on three championship teams with the Porsche series, two with Nova and one with Roman, there were only two team members on those teams.

The current format has four team members with the top two team members points going toward the team overall standings.

So, in regards to Team racing, you help your team win by getting the highest finish place possible.

The last team championship, our team didn’t win until the final race of the season and by less than 10 points, and that was over 10 races. Half way through the season we were over a 120 points down to Nova’s team.

I always looked at the series as an individual championship and a team championship, with the individual championship being what everyone wanted to win, the last series I raced when we ran the Porsche 992 car, Sand and I battled for the championship to the finish of the second race of the season finale, it was extremely competitive to the last lap and nerve racking for both of us.

There are no other GT7 series that offer the quality of racing that Nova’s series offer, and that’s why there are several drivers that participate in these series season after season.

Nova deserves all the credit for putting these series together and creating such a competitive racing environment that also puts sportsmanship as an integral part of the racing.

To answer your team inquiry and idea, the challenge is the fact that the grid is ever changing from race event to race event...always has in this series. Unless you have a static roster of primary drivers that get full season priority with reserve drivers only racing when they can bump, there is no way to implement a dedicated team aspect to the series. I tried this format very early in the Friday Night racing. Worked well for a little while, but there was very little incentive for the reserves to practice.
I then moved to a first to confirm attending....no grid priority, other than first to confirm. As you can imagine, most of the grid regulars always would confirm early. Those more casual about it and slower to confirm would trickle in. These are the grid spots that tended to always move around. This is why only the two top scoring drivers on the grid have their points count toward the race event score. The team I'm on would have annihilated the rest if it were based on all 4, as all four of our drivers had a very high attendance rate along with strong points hauls. Instead, only our top two scorers counted toward team scoring. This was to also offset when a team might not have all their drivers on the grid. And lastly, for the teams that do maybe take the team aspect a bit more seriously, it created an added incentive to confirm early and get as many in your team on the grid to better your team's chance at a stronger points haul. If not, and only one or two confirm or show, that's on that team's members. I hope that gives a bit more clarity why we cannot have a more fixed team aspect to the series.

I am sure that clarifies the issue for Many Drivers!!!..

Very well explained and I understand the situation much more better better 😂

I don't know how much time you put into this - I am sure its significant and it is very much appreciated and helps all participants of many driver skill levels participate and enjoy your efforts.

You have clarified to my full understanding now - and I needed that 100%

I hope future commentary and questions will be fully understood as an attempt to fully grasp your concept / vision / and growth of this series - not as a questioning of ill means.

We at times write things in a mindset that others cannot see through "their lens" without hearing the inflections of ones voice that is absent in text.

Thank you foe taking the time to explain in a professional well thought out reply. I am POSITIVE this has brought clarity to many - or maybe its just me 😂

You are welcome Ant and glad my reply was helpful, see you on the track soon.

That last lap might look rough, but it was just a fun way to finish the night. Good hard practice for several races, and a minor bump or two between some of us racing for the first spot not on the podium. Might have gone a touch OOB out of the bus stop, but he was getting away.

Am I good to go on updated TT and same group? I believe I sent a photo of livery!
Yes sir, youre all set. Only bits I noticed on the livery that need edited was the blue "Pro Am " class tag in the top right corner of your side number plates, and make sure to have it on the left rear above your IMSA decal. Also, the digital number boards, make sure to apply blank boards. After each event and the standings are posted, you can edit by applying green digital numbers signigying your standing.

Season Opener
Driver Communication

Good afternoon Drivers, and Happy Father's Day to all our Dads. Our season opener is coming up this Friday, 6/20. A formal Pre-Event Driver Briefing Post will be posted in the thread by Friday afternoon at the latest. This post will include final reminders pertaining to the event, along with attendance updates, and driver race status.

New to this season, is the driver confirmations and grid priority process. With that said, I did want to send out this post to give everyone that may not have reviewed the new process a chance to do so. See below:
For the first event of this series, the top 12 drivers to confirm attending are guarunteed their grid spots for Event #1. Every event thereafter, the top 12 drivers in overall points standing will be afforded grid priority and first right of refusal for the next event. They simply need to confirm at any point up to 8pm est on the Thursday before our Friday race night to claim their grid priority. Drivers in the top 12 in standings that cannot make an event and confirm absent will forfiet their grid spot(s) to the additional confirmed drivers in the order in which they confirmed.

For the final four grid spots:
-If we have only 4 drivers confirmed/available by 8pm est on the Friday race night, those four drivers will simply procede to the race room at 9pm est to fill out the grid and the race night will proceed as normal.

-If we have more than 4 drivers confirmed/available by 8pm est on the Friday race night, those drivers will be required to run a formal Pre-Qualification session to establish the final 4 spots and remaining reserve priority for that night's event. (If confirmed drivers in this group choose to rescind their confirmation rather than attempt to qualify for the final 4 spots, and only 4 drivers remain, those 4 remaining drivers can procede to the race room at 9pm est as no run-off is then necessary).

If the Pre-Qualification is Necessary:
-@Noob01_lmdead / PSN ID: RJC76 will be our dedicated Pre-Qualifying room host with @Bologna_Duc / PSN ID: DucatiRobb as our back-up host for this session. Be sure to have both of them on your PSN friends list to have access to their room. They will not be on track during this session (unless they are outside the top 12 in standings and are part of the run-off group)
-Pre-Qualification Lobby will be openened at 8:30pm est on our scheduled race night. Lobby settings will be set to the same as the main race lobby, except for the change to 10 minutes for the Pre-qualifying session. All confirmed Drivers (or last minute available drivers) will have 10 minutes to enter the room and forward their spec sheets to my PSN ID or to the series PSN group chat.
-Pre Qualifying will start promptly at 8:40pm est for a 10 minute qualifying session. (Again, if only 4 drivers are present at 8:40pm est, this session can be cancelled and those 4 drivers can procede to the main race room at 9pm est)
-The host will collect a screenshot of the qualifying results to be sent to the series group chat, and the top 4 (or more if needed to cover for very late last minute drops) will be directed to procede to the main race room when it opens at 9pm est.
-This Pre-Qualification room will then be closed, and all drivers that made the grid are to procede to the main race room when it opens at 9pm est.
-The main race lobby/room will then procede in it's current format of 15 min warmup/sending specs, 15 min Race 1 qualifying session, and then the 30 min race 1. Drivers that race the pre-qualification are expected to send their spec sheet again once the main race room is entered.

We currently have 20 drivers confirmed for this Friday. The first 12 drivers confirmed have guaranteed their grid spots.
All drivers outside the top 12 (8 drivers as of this post) will be invited to qualify for the final 4 spots. Please be sure to get plenty of practice, and be sure to enter the pre-qualifier room by 8:30pm est. Again, please review the confirmation and grid priority process in the spoiler tab for more details. Any questions, please reach out.
