Rule Update:

This rule update is in regard to bump in priority when someone in the top 12 is not able to race and will be absent.

Originally, the wording had priority based on the order of confirmation, outside the top twelve. After reviewing, this does not seem fair to those who have scores posted in the standings or have scores higher than those that may have scored lower or are farther down the standings, but happened to confirm earlier.

The point of our new format is to reward the top 12 in standings. With that said, if someone in the top twelve is not available, the next driver in overall season points (13th place) would bump into the top 12. If another driver in the top 12 was not available, it would fall to the 14th place driver who would now be considered as part of the top twelve for the event.

Any remaining outside the top twelve will have to run the pre-qualification if there are more than 4 drivers confirmed to secure their spot on the grid.

I reviewed the results of event #1 to verify that this change has not effect on what the order would have been for Event #2.

The updated wording for this rule adjustment is "Drivers in the top 12 in standings that cannot make an event and confirm absent will forfiet their grid spot(s) to the next confirmed driver(s) in the order of their overall season standings."

The confirmation and priority list has been updated to reflects the change.

@Phlano099 has reported he will not be available for the next three events. Therefore, the next driver highest in standings (13th place) bumps into the top twelve. For event #3, this is @Yugofan . Keep in mind, that despite Phlano not being able to attend the next three events, he is still in the top 12 until he is bumped down and outside the top twelve overall.

Any questions, feel free to reach out.

@llNovall & Group:

It looks like I have a family dinner function early Friday evening. While I hope and think I'll make it home in time for our event, I would suggest that the person currently occupying the 13th slot (@JDMKING13 ??) be fully prepared for an automatic berth in the main field.

I'd say my status is questionable. Not quite ready to give up my spot quite yet. As we get into 7:00 - 8:30 Friday night, I'll update the group.

Event #3 Drivers Meeting

Grid Business
Good morning to everyone who will be attending tonight's 3rd event of the season at the Nurburgring GP track. We have 18 drivers confirmed for this event. The Top 12 in th estandings that confirmed for the event are already guaranteed their grid spot for tonight. The remaining 6 drivers are invited to enter the Pre-Qualification room at 8:30pm est, hosted by PSN ID: @Bologna_Duc / PSN ID: Bologna_Duc. Please be sure to enter the room and forward your spec sheets to my PSN ID: NOVA-0479 before the pre-qualifying session starts. The pre-qualifying session will begin at 8:40pm est. Be sure you are greened up and ready before the session begins. Once the session starts, it will not be re-started for any reason...no exceptions. At the end of the 10 minute qualifying session, a screenshot of the results will be captured and forwarded to my psn, and the host will direct the 4 fastest drivers to proceed to the main race room at 9pm est. For the complete pre-qualification process details, see the tab below.
For the first event of this series, the top 12 drivers to confirm attending are guaranteed their grid spots for Event #1. Every event thereafter, the top 12 drivers in overall points standing will be afforded grid priority and first right of refusal for the next event. They simply need to confirm at any point up to 8pm est on the Thursday before our Friday race night to claim their grid priority. Drivers in the top 12 in standings that cannot make an event and confirm absent will forfiet their grid spot(s) to the next confirmed driver(s) in the order of their overall season standings.

For the final four grid spots:
-If we have only 4 drivers confirmed/available by 8pm est on the Friday race night, those four drivers will simply procede to the race room at 9pm est to fill out the grid and the race night will proceed as normal.

-If we have more than 4 drivers confirmed/available by 8pm est on the Friday race night, those drivers will be required to run a formal Pre-Qualification session to establish the final 4 spots and remaining reserve priority for that night's event. (If confirmed drivers in this group choose to rescind their confirmation rather than attempt to qualify for the final 4 spots, and only 4 drivers remain, those 4 remaining drivers can procede to the race room at 9pm est as no run-off is then necessary).

-If the Pre-Qualification session does proceed and the final 4 drivers are established, any driver(s) that were present, posted a time for the Pre-Qualification session prior to an Event, and does not earn a spot on the main grid will earn an equivalent to last place concession award of +2pp toward their next event driver regulation. For those at the +20pp regulation, no more concession will be afforded.

If the Pre-Qualification is Necessary:
-@Noob01_lmdead / PSN ID: RJC76 will be our dedicated Pre-Qualifying room host with @Bologna_Duc / PSN ID: Bologna_Duc as our back-up host for this session. Be sure to have both of them on your PSN friends list to have access to their room. They will not be on track during this session (unless they are outside the top 12 in standings and are part of the run-off group)
-Pre-Qualification Lobby will be openened at 8:30pm est on our scheduled race night. Lobby settings will be set to the same as the main race lobby, except for the change to 10 minutes for the Pre-qualifying session. All confirmed Drivers (or last minute available drivers) will have 10 minutes to enter the room and forward their spec sheets to my PSN ID or to the series PSN group chat.
-Pre Qualifying will start promptly at 8:40pm est for a 10 minute qualifying session. (Again, if only 4 drivers are present at 8:40pm est, this session can be cancelled and those 4 drivers can procede to the main race room at 9pm est)
-The host will collect a screenshot of the qualifying results to be sent to the series group chat, and the top 4 (or more if needed to cover for very late last minute drops) will be directed to procede to the main race room when it opens at 9pm est.
-This Pre-Qualification room will then be closed, and all drivers that made the grid are to procede to the main race room when it opens at 9pm est.
-The main race lobby/room will then procede in it's current format of 15 min warmup/sending specs, 15 min Race 1 qualifying session, and then the 30 min race 1. Drivers that race the pre-qualification are expected to send their spec sheet again once the main race room is entered.

ALL drivers on the main race room grid should submit their spec sheets to my PSN: NOVA-0479 between the time that the room opens at 9pm est and the start of qualifying at 9:15pm est. (Drivers that were in the Pre-Qualifying session should submit these spec sheets again to the group psn or my psn before qualifying begins at 9:15pm est)
I'd ask all drivers to make sure they are running a wired connection in any way possible and to clear their network cache before entering the race room to avoid any issues. It seems the online lobbies run based on the slowest running system and/or internet speed in the room....basically throttles everyone down which appears to cause the instability we have experienced in the past. Let's try to head off any of these issues and optimize everything on our own ends that we can to help. For those with faster internet service speeds (over 200mbps+), it seems there are less issues with stability. For those on slower internet speeds or forced to run wirelessly, their network appears to be affected more when other in the household are online and pulling from the service speed. See this link to optimize your network priority for the gaming, and try to reduce internet usage (if possible) elsewhere in the house when racing.

Get them final practice laps in, and be ready for tonight.

Reminder to all drivers:
The first twelve confirmed drivers are holding 1 of 12 guaranteed grid spots, and we have 22 drivers on the PS5 roster, 18 for tonight. Please notify me as soon as reasonably possible if you are unable to make the event. The latest acceptable notice without any recourse is 9:10pm est. If any confirmed drivers drop out last minute, the next fastest driver from pre-qualifying will be invited to the race room.

Drivers Briefing
A few reminders for Sainte Croix Layout B:
1.) Be mindful in the opening laps. Be patient, and avoid contact/incident at all cost. Incidents that result in an issued caution, in the opening 2 laps, will come under automatic review for any possible infractions and penalized as necessary. Please be patient, brake earlier, and respect your opponent driver's space/line...they are not brakes or guard rails.
2.) Tight Sections and Chicanes: There is no written rule for these sections, but I'd ask all drivers to exercise caution and good judgement through these sections. Know when you have lost the position when approaching these section, and be considerate enough to back out to avoid the risk of incidents. This series will continue to induce some very close quarters racing, and one slow up, or mistake could result in yourself, both, or many drivers losing position....don't be that guy. If both drivers are dead on, side by side, proceed with caution, and hold your lines. Just be warned that attempting to go side by side in these sections cleanly will slow both of you down and almost guarantee a loss of position(s) from other attacking drivers. BE CAREFUL and AVOID CONTACT.
3.) See this Event Details Link and review for driver specs, race details, and allowable track boundaries for the Nurburgring GP

Final Reminders:
-Please be sure that everyone is on a wired connection to their PS5 (in any way possible)
-Clear cache before entering the race room
Lets try to do the best we can to reduce the jitters within the lobby.
Any drivers that are noted or noticed to create continuous issues will be asked to retire for the event.

As for me, I’m still questionable and will be updating the group in a few hours as to me availability.

It would suck missing tonight, especially after the intense practice session a bunch of us had last night.

In the event I have to miss, I would need somebody to capture all qualifying and results tables please. Preferably using the PS Capture button and shoot them over to me.

Stay-tuned.

Keep us posted. I will capture replays and results to forward to you if you cannot attend.

For all drivers in the pre-qualifying group, Radliff is not able to attend, leaving only 5 for the Pre-qualifying. In the event Niagara confirms he CANNOT race tonight, the remaining 4 drivers will have grid spots for tonight and no pre-qualifying session will be necessary. I will update once I get a confirmation from Niagara.

I will send a PSN note to the pre-qualy drivers when the lobby is open unless Nova confirms it is not required.

This is going to be a tough race in my opinion in both grids. In practices I’ve been in so far overtaking is difficult unless there is a significant mistake ahead. Aggressive pass attempts introduce defensive driving which allows the cars ahead to build what amounts to an insurmountable gap. Here is a screenshot of fast laps from an intense 8-lap practice race last night.

How are we looking sir? Getting close to pre-qualification room time.

It is with the deepest regret that I have to pull the plug.
Sure I’m likely home by 9:00 but I’d be ice cold and a few beers deep that I might not be at my best.

Enjoy the night Snails.
Save me those pics.
Let’s go WKM…

You all have spots secure for tonight. Good luck guys.

Thanks for the notice. @DRD_Niagara , if you make it back at 9, get in and drop some laps before qualifying at 9:15. We are at 15 w'out you.
I much appreciate that @llNovall . Had a few extra drinks and a shot (or two) at the bar. I respect the series too much to go out there sloppy.

Looking forward to recapping the night for you folks.

Event #3 / Race #1 Recap

250815 - Event 3 Spotters Guide.webp

Preamble:
The European leg of the series wraps up with Event #3 taking place at the Nurburgring GP. There's no need for the Pre-Qualifying procedure so it's straight to the regular Qualifying session.

The changes to the grid from Event #2 are as follows:
We're one driver short of a full grid for this event so we'll go off with 15 drivers.

Qualifying Table:
Quali Table 1.webp

Quali Table 2.webp

I was wondering if somebody would managed to sneak into the high 1:59's for qualifying. That didn't happen but qualifying appears to have been pretty quick. And just as he's done in the season's first two event's, the @The_Antman_ puts down the fastest lap and will start on pole once again.

The grid is set. We've got @The_Antman_ and @Kgffy on the front row. @socalnatv and @Bologna_Duc will line up behind them in the 2nd row. The 3rd row is made up of @Noob01_lmdead and @Worst_Driver.

Event #3 / Race #1

LAP #1:
It's lights out in Bavaria and full throttle before getting hard on the brakes for the sharp righthanded Turn 1.
SHARE_20250817_0513320.webp

LAP #1:
Entering the Turn 1 breaking zone, it appears @Noob01_lmdead gave a bump to @Bologna_Duc who would go flying onto the grass and into the bollard which would prompt him to be reset at the back of the grid. @Noob01_lmdead is aware of the error and would wait for @Bologna_Duc between Turns 1 and Turns 2.
SHARE_20250817_0513570.webp

LAP #1 - Lead Change:
@Kgffy would exit the race's first Turn ahead of @The_Antman_ to take the early lead. A few moments later, the action would be paused as Caution would be called to get the grid back together with @Bologna_Duc and @Noob01_lmdead now occupying the last two spots.
SHARE_20250817_0514140.webp

LAP #2 - Lead Change:
At the beginning of Lap #2, the green flag restarts the action. @Kgffy and @The_Antman_ would battle hard well into the 2nd sector where @The_Antman_ eventually comes out ahead and reclaims the lead.
SHARE_20250817_0514340.webp

LAP #3:
Towards the rear of the grid, @cesarr64, running in 12th place is leading @TexHill, @Bologna_Duc and @Noob01_lmdead who are desperate to make up for the spots that were lost early in Lap #1.
SHARE_20250817_0514530.webp

LAP #5:
@Mac1032763 is defending his 8th spot but goes just a little wide coming out of Turn 2 which allowed @JDMKING13 to get beside him and take the favorable inside line going into Turn 3. Just ahead are @Worst_Driver, @llNovall and @DublDee running 5-6-7.
SHARE_20250817_0515100.webp

LAP #5:
A little later in Lap #5, @Noob01_lmdead in on the brakes about to enter the chicane and sees @Mac1032763 in a little trouble. @Mac1032763 would get his rear-right tire on the grass to unsettle his car and cause a spin. The error would drop from from 9th to 13th spot.
SHARE_20250817_0515280.webp

LAP #7:
This corner allows for a very wide angle to show the dispersion of the grid. We're at a little less than the halfway mark of the race and we can see @The_Antman_, @socalnatv and @Kgffy running 1-2-3 exiting the hairpin. Entering the hairpin is @Yugofan, @Worst_Driver and @llNovall running 4-5-6. And a little further back, entering the braking zone is @DublDee, @JDMKING13, @bublyman and @Bologna_Duc running 7 through 10.
SHARE_20250817_0515460.webp

LAP #9:
Towards the end of Lap #9, @Kgffy comes out of the chicane quick to claim the inside line before the home straight and move ahead of @socalnatv. But at Turn 1 of Lap #10, he'd run a little too deep which would leave room for @socalnatv to retake the 2nd spot.
SHARE_20250817_0516050.webp

Lap #10:
To me, this was the pass attempt of the race. @JDMKING13 would get a little dirt on his tires a few turns prior to the back straight and @DublDee lined him up perfectly for a very strong attack. @DublDee would briefly gain the 7th position but maybe got on his brake a hair too late entering the chicane. The sequence was kept clean but going a little too deep entering the chicane might have cost him a couple spots as @Bologna_Duc and @bublyman would get ahead of him.
SHARE_20250817_0516220.webp

LAP #14:
This was the view from @Yugofan's cockpit for the duration of the entire race. From the moments the lights went out to start the race, @Yugofan and @Worst_Driver ran from the 4th and 5th position and most of time with @Worst_Driver occupying the entirety of @Yugofan's rearview mirror.
SHARE_20250817_0516410.webp

LAP #15:
@JDMKING13 needed to be at his best to defend his 8th position from an attacking @bublyman who was on him for the last few laps of the race.
SHARE_20250817_0517010.webp

LAP #16:
Although @socalnatv and @Kgffy closed the gap during Lap #16, it was @The_Antman_ that claimed the checkered flag. For the third time this season he takes the top spot on the podium. He's joined by @socalnatv and @Kgffy.
SHARE_20250817_0517180.webp

@The_Antman_ also manages a 1:59.880 to log the race's fastest lap. His time edges out @Kgffy's lap of 2:00.262 and @socalnatv's time of 2:00.436.

Event #3 / Race #1 Broadcast:

Driver of the Race Award:
As I review the replay a few times to pull pictures and to record the broadcast, things stand out to me so I give a shout-out to the following drivers for their performance in Event #3 / Race #1:
  • @socalnatv and @Kgffy are splitting the award for this race. They both battle each other cleanly, even exchanging positions, all the while keeping @The_Antman_ within their sights.
Honorable mention #1 to @Yugofan. If you can go 16 mistake free laps while keeping @Worst_Driver in your rearview mirror, you deserve recognition.

Honorable mention #2 to @DublDee. I loved the attack I highlighted in Lap #10. And also how you battled @Mac1032763 and periodically took his 10th position at the chicane at Lap #16, only to realize you slightly abused track limits. Therefore you lifted, gave @Mac1032763 the spot back prior to the end of the race. A masterclass in "The Snail Way".

Final Thoughts:
  • It really pained me to miss this one. The practice sessions leading up to the race were a blast and intense.
  • Shameless plug for the Snail Sunday Night Spec League. Get yourselves on the active drivers list and you've got some good racing available to you every Sunday night. No better spot for continued racecraft development.
  • Busy week coming up but I'll try to have the Race #2 recap out before the weekend. (no promises)
That's how I interpreted Event #3 / Race #1.
