If I can add a little something, I’m maybe wrong and I don’t know about how all of you others thinking about that but, all this team thing is mostly a pretext to create chemistry and camaraderie more than pure strategy. I love this series because of the parity we could achieve and race against other about the same level. I’ll never play a strategy game of slowing another one to gain some advantage… I just love to team up with other folks who’s gonna have a name and some stickers in common! It’s pretty cool actually!

This is exactly the point. ^^^^^

This will be my 3rd series with @llNovall and the group and I can say the thought of deliberately blocking or intentionally slowing somebody down to protect a teammate running further ahead has never entered my mindset.

I think the spirit of the series is primarily an individual competition, with the team competition as a distant secondary objective that serves only as a little added bonus as something to track and read up on when the post race-scores comes out.

Maybe teammates can exchange or share tunes or advice but if one were to go watch any past races, I doubt they'd be able to point out to any situations where teammates were working hand-in-hand to advance their chances on the "teams" competition.

Since I've begun writing this post, I see a few have added to this topic and I believe those of us that have done this series in the past are all on the same page.

thats definitely the portion I look forward too and agree

However - this is real world - its funny we celebrate Duck winning the Mich Cup however there was no mention of second place and no mention or celebration over the last place position

Why is that?

I live in the real world and understand that everyone is striving for P1 not P16

And to add to this, I think I battled harder with my teamates in some races than I did others. As said, the series is about the individual driver championship. The team aspect is exactly as described by bubly and Niagara, a secondary aspect.

Some of the hardest battles in F1 are between teammates
Watch toward the end of this race, the final race event of our Michelin Pilot season. Duc and I, and @bublyman were in a fight for the Championship. I had to battle Bubly nearly the whole race it felt like, but skip to where Rauljimenez76 (my teammate) challenged me for third place in race 2. I promise, it was full send from both of us. And I recall an insane battle with Sand and Raul in the Nurburgring event. No one in here is focused on team points. Its the driver Championship we are all fighting for. And as a final note, 3 of our 4 drivers were in the top 4 overall in the Championship. Our points fight against each other is what drove our team points up. This is a very competitive and challenging series. Its not for everyone. But, if you commit to it and want to constantly challenge yourself, you will be pleased racing here.
Last race at Spa

i have been penalized only once in my Life in this series, and unfortunatelly it was in an incident with my own teammate
We were figthing first place i belive, both us were pushing 110 porcent but a 1/1000 sec misjudgement from my side made us collide
Team work can be done if we r chasing other pilot ahead of us, meaning no figthing to avoid loosing time but once we r there for sure a clean figth for the podium
So be sure that if you want to slow down on a corner to help your teammate you will be passed next turn….

@llNovall you have been running these series since 2022, at least that’s when I started racing with you.

I started with ARL, then Snail Sunday, Snail endurance series and Holiday races, the Porsche series you ran was by far some of the best racing I have ever experienced, clean, fast and super competitive.

When I first started racing, I knew who I was racing against and worked hard to get better every race, saved the replays so I could see how the fast guys were running fast laps. Looked at their break points, speed into the turns, corner entry angle, and that stuff helped me get better.

When a faster driver was catching me after a pit stop, I would let them pass so I could follow them and try to keep up with their pace.

The thought of intentionally blocking a faster car for team points isn’t what these series are about.

Just my 2 cents…

Watch the documentary Earnhart on Amazon Prime Video. In episode three, the DEI team (Dale Sr., Dale Jr., and Michael Waltrip) worked together to secure the top three places at the Daytona 500. Michael was in front, Dale Jr. provided bump draft to Michael, and Dale Sr. acted as a blocker.

Team strategy is an integral part of real life racing, and it would have been cool to incorporate it in this series.

Season Opener
Event #1 Race Details

June 20th, 2025, 9pm est
Daytona International Road Course

Conditions:
Night, SO7 Humid and
Pleasant with a Few Clouds
17 laps

Welcome Drivers for our next series of SNAIL Friday Night Racing. We are back to using the Porsche marque for this season of the SNAIL Porsche Cayman Mobile 1 SuperCup, in our modified Porsche Cayman Gt4 "Cup" cars. Most driver's time trials have been received with enough data to establish classing and parity. Those who have completed all the required time trialing, your driver regulations have been set and are posted below in this post. This chart can also be found in Post #2 of the thread. Those who have yet to submit their time trial or who still need to re-submit their TT with the new specs are asked to do so as soon as possible. Once final regulations and classing are set, all drivers are also asked to verify, update, and submit a final screenshot of their updated livery if on a handicap or concession.

Below are the details for Event #1 at Daytona International Road Course on Friday, June 20th, 2025.
Drivers are encouraged and reminded to confirm their attendance status as soon as possible to secure their spot on the grid for race night. Please see the updated Confimation and grid priority rules in the Spoiler tab below.
For the first event of this series, the top 12 drivers to confirm attending are guarunteed their grid spots for Event #1. Every event thereafter, the top 12 drivers in overall points standing will be afforded grid priority and first right of refusal for the next event. They simply need to confirm at any point up to 8pm est on the Thursday before our Friday race night to claim their grid priority. Drivers in the top 12 in standings that cannot make an event and confirm absent will forfiet their grid spot(s) to the additional confirmed drivers in the order in which they confirmed.

For the final four grid spots:
-If we have only 4 drivers confirmed/available by 8pm est on the Friday race night, those four drivers will simply procede to the race room at 9pm est to fill out the grid and the race night will proceed as normal.

-If we have more than 4 drivers confirmed/available by 8pm est on the Friday race night, those drivers will be required to run a formal Pre-Qualification session to establish the final 4 spots and remaining reserve priority for that night's event. (If confirmed drivers in this group choose to rescind their confirmation rather than attempt to qualify for the final 4 spots, and only 4 drivers remain, those 4 remaining drivers can procede to the race room at 9pm est as no run-off is then necessary).

If the Pre-Qualification is Necessary:
-@Noob01_lmdead / PSN ID: RJC76 will be our dedicated Pre-Qualifying room host with @Bologna_Duc / PSN ID: DucatiRobb or PSN ID: Sand_68 as our back-up hosts for this session. Be sure to have them on your PSN friends list to have access to their room. They will not be on track during this session (unless they are outside the top 12 in standings and are part of the run-off group)
-Pre-Qualification Lobby will be openened at 8:30pm est on our scheduled race night. Lobby settings will be set to the same as the main race lobby, except for the change to 10 minutes for the Pre-qualifying session. All confirmed Drivers (or last minute available drivers) will have 10 minutes to enter the room and forward their spec sheets to my PSN ID or to the series PSN group chat.
-Pre Qualifying will start promptly at 8:40pm est for a 10 minute qualifying session. (Again, if only 4 drivers are present at 8:40pm est, this session can be cancelled and those 4 drivers can procede to the main race room at 9pm est)
-The host will collect a screenshot of the qualifying results to be sent to the series group chat, and the top 4 (or more if needed to cover for very late last minute drops) will be directed to procede to the main race room when it opens at 9pm est.
-This Pre-Qualification room will then be closed, and all drivers that made the grid are to procede to the main race room when it opens at 9pm est.
-The main race lobby/room will then procede in it's current format of 15 min warmup/sending specs, 15 min Race 1 qualifying session, and then the 30 min race 1. Drivers that race the pre-qualification are expected to send their spec sheet again once the main race room is entered.

I will be hosting practice sessions in the afternoons periodically over the next few weeks between 4pm-5pm est, and am sure there will be other rooms open during the evening prime-time. Get those laps in and be ready.

Date: June 20th, 2025 at 9pm est
Track: Daytona International Road Course
Conditions: Night, SO7 Humid and Pleasant with a Few Clouds
Laps: 17 laps /race
Target Lap Times: hi 1:46's to hi 1:47's
(See Section 1, Tab 1.3 for Lobby Settings)

Track Map and Boundaries
1748824095871.png

Keep 2 wheels on or within the white line where curbing is not present, or on the curbs where they are present at all times, except where it is specifically noted otherwise. The white line and curbing is considered legal track surface. Failure to comply to track boundaries could result in penalties if infractions are witnessed and reported.

Exceptions and Specified areas:
1.) Drivers may run wide past the white line at the exit of Turn 3.
2.) Drivers may be very liberal in Le Mans Chicane, especially at the exit of the chicane. Be sure to keep at least 2 wheels/tires on the yellow curbing....rest of the car can be in the grass at your risk.

Below is the link for the 2nd Post in the thread with the most updated driver regulations. Those highlighted in yellow either need to run an initial TT, or run a follow up TT to get the regulations confirmed. Please get these done in the next week or so, so you can be practicing on the correct regulation for the season opener.
Drivers Roster and Regulations
Please see below for the rules if not completed before race night:
Any drivers that do not submit a TT before the start of the season, will default at the base 679.00pp for event #1. Lap times will then be used to assess for an adjustment for the next event.
Also, if a driver that has not run the TT and posts a fast lap more than 1 second faster than the next fastest lap posted in the same race, that driver will be assessed a 15 point penalty for that race. (This would apply to the second race as well if a break out occurs in that race due to no TT data). Please get your TT done and submit to my PSN ID: NOVA-0479 before the start of the season or a driver's first race of participation to avoid any chances of break-out. (If a TT has been completed and turned in and assessed and a driver breaks out as noted above, the above rule does not apply. That would be on my assessment and success penalty would catch up to you)
Looking forward the opener.

At the time of this post, we currently have 18 drivers confirmed for event #1 with only 12 of them guaranteed a grid spot. All remaining drivers who are confirmed or confirm before Thursday at 8pm est prior to race night will be asked to run in the pre-qualifying room at 8:30pm est on race night. The top 4 times (or more if needed to cover any last minute drops after the pre-qualifying session) will move on to the main race event room. Please be sure to confirm your entry if wanting to compete.

I’m the first bail….Got invited to the Road America Indy race. I’m really disappointed to miss our first one. Good luck to everyone!

Confirming for race 2! 🤣
Thanks for the early heads up and have a great time....get pics!!

Confirmations for event #2 will not be accepted until our race event #1 race night is complete. Figure around 11pm est on race night.

And with that, @Worst_Driver is now in the top twelve and is guranteed a grid spot for event #1.

@Worst_Driver , I had a mis-count and actually had 13 marked with the number 4 marked twice. With Yugo out, that righted everything. You are still in the pre-qualifying pool at the moment. Sorry for the confusion.

Here's the thing, the stars aligned for them in that race. Making the team and a team strategy your focus, will not yield strong results here. One miscue or delay in a corner will risk precious time and expose you to a ton of pressure and moreso the risk of losing alot of positions if not executed perfectly.

You haven't experienced the racing in this series yet. These are races that very closely simulate real world racing where the majority of the grid is very close in pace. The Alien sim drivers in the sim world get to enjoy this because they are all of the same skillset and pace when racing against each other in big sim event races. For the rest of us, our skillsets typically have our pace and lap times all spread out. When you have a driver that can drop a lap time 2 seconds faster than you, it only amounts to maybe a few corners of racing before he executes an overtake. When you're within 2-3 tenths of the drivers around you, it takes laps to execute a pass, and that is not always guaranteed and can expose you to be overtaken. With our leveling for parity, we are trying to afford ourselves the realnworld racing and upper level sim racing experiences. You will experience very long trains of cars on your tail, 3-4-5 car battles.....1-2 car battles that will last 5 to 8 or more laps before there is a break....or not. Point is, you will be far too busy racing to worry about plans and team strategies. Also, I've had many drivers come and go over the years. Those that embrace the battles, the close racing, and the challenge of this series, they get hooked and very committed. Those that are more focused on just winning, typically end up moving on to seek out their easier wins against the less skilled mass of drivers. The drivers committed to these series are here for the racing.

Now a final note on the team aspect...., I won't say that having teammates on the track around you is a bad thing. Using each other to bump draft to catch up to a pack or to make a run from attacking drivers, sure. Sharing tunes within your team...go for it. But as for actively making race moves to impede or block another driver or driver group, this will simply result in you losing too much time and getting passed, or inducing an incident in which you risk penalty(s). The best thing you can do for your team, is just race clean and hard and scoop up the best result possible and the points that come with it.

So whatnit sounds like is

This IS NOT a true team event - there are NO TEAM Awards

I completely mis understood what the term "Team" meant for the series / apologies for my confusion.

TEAM RACING means a whoooooooooole different thing

Thanks for clarification

So the final 4 spots have to be fought for in order to fill the grid for the race?
Correct, unless there are only 4 drivers remaining confirmed as of 8:30pm est on race night. In that situation, they bump in by default.
Also, take note that if any of the 12 that are confirmed and currently guaranteed a spot drop out before 8:30pm est on race night, the next drivers confirmed automatically bump in. Then, if we still have more than 4 drivers confirmed, we run the pre-qualifying session. If not, they would fill out the grid.
As many of our series regulars know, many of our race nights have 2-3 drops before race night. I anticipate that most of our events will likely be filled by bump-ins. The pre-qualification is more of a back up plan to make it fair to those that put the laps in.

This opening event, the first 12 guaranteed spots were based on order of confirmation. After this event, the top 12 spots will be guaranteed to the top 12 drivers in overall points standings. If any of them can not make the next race event, those that confirmed first outside the top 12 bump in.

My advice if not in the top 12 in points, be sure to confirm as soon as possible after each race event to reserve your priority outside the guaranteed 12.

Hi guys. I have not recieved any TT data or any correspondence from you over the last few weeks. If you are still planning to participate in the series, please reply as soon as possible, and run your Time Trial as instructed in the first post.
@MrDonovan , a livery has already been prepped for you if you plan to run with us this season. Search tag: snailpsc

If you other guys need assistance with a livery, let me know.

If I do not recieve any reply by 8pm est, Sunday, 6/15, your entries will be removed from the driver roster and profile page.

Copied from Novas season ending post. Congratulations to my team. It was fun to watch team standings during the season. Good luck to yours if you decide to participate.

Nova has been doing this for quite a while as noted by a few others. And he invests a lot of his personal time to create as competitive a series as possible. Those of us who have been with him for years are incredibly appreciative of his effort. Theres a reason we keep coming back. Maybe get a few events under your belt and learn the how/why before getting too critical. You might find yourself another regular a few years down the road.

@llNovall Boundary clarification please.

“2.) Drivers may be very liberal in Le Mans Chicane, especially at the exit of the chicane. Be sure to keep at least 2 wheels/tires on the yellow curbing....rest of the car can be in the grass at your risk.”

I interpret this to mean the narrow strip of concrete between yellow curb and grass is oob?
