hey,

been looking at some of the drift photos and videos on here, some good stuff, been trying this now for a while (drifting) and i can get the car sideways but it always seems to snap back and i end up spinning out... so how do you stop it from snapping back?

i hate to be the one who says this because i hate it when someone tells me but, search before you ask a question. if you look at the top threads there is already a thread about this.

here you go snap back thread

no idea but if thats happening you most likely havent turned the aids off or you need to use n1 or n2 tires

im on n2 tyres and the aids are off, the way i prolong a drift is letting off the accel so the back end doesnt go and spin out, but when i do that it seems to lose too much power and then when i accel again then the back wheels seem to smoke and the car goes nowhere

what car are you using. if youre just starting you might want to start out with a short wheel based rwd with around 300hp to 400hp. it sounds like your either using an american car or high powered car like maybe an rx7. am i right?

i hate to drift japanese cars so i dont really know how they feel. every body else suggests the miata or something around that because it requires almost no tuning. for myslef. i started out with a camaro. i wouldnt really suggest that for you though. my only advice is find the car you like. the drivetrain you like. and suspension ( hard, soft, med ). mess around with suspension tuning and you might want to use n1's. i wish i could show you how i drift but my second vid isnt ready yet. my first ones up called muscle car drifting in the vid section but it might not help you.

i just thought of something. whats happening is you let of the gas and lose power or snap back, right? for that, keep on the gas the whole turn and just control it. when you come out of the turn, keep on the gas and let it correct itself. you might have to tap it a tiny bit but it will correct itself at the end.

it snaps back coming out of the corner when i straighten up, i know why it does it but i cant see any way to not do it if u know what i mean lol, i think i lose power because im going tooo sideways.. just have to practice and see what happens

i know what your talking about. like i said. just correct it a little, the completely let off the steering and let it correct to a point where you can stter it again

I reduce snap by reducing car swaying:
lower front damper
lower ride height
stiffer spring rate
higher staibilizer

first method is enough if you can drive smoothly
