So, with the snow here and more approaching comes winter sports. So apart from the subtle sports such as skiing and my favorite snowboarding and such, what about the real fun. Im talking about snowmobiling. So who snowmobiles, do you race them do and types of drags what kind of sled do you have? I have only started snowmobiling for abotu a year, actually like half a year considering the length of winter. Any way my friend taught me how to ride on a ski doo 380. I now just took one of my checks and invested in a learning beater. Its a 87 polaris 340. Its runs good and is in ok condition. Im lookign to redo the seat, its duck taped completely. Maybe i will post some pictures later.

I want one when I am like 18 and go with my friend and his dad. They go to different cities and crap. His dad's goes well over 100mph and my friend got his up to 100 once before he backed off... he weighs 80lbs though.

I love going fast.

I've been snowmobiling twice, both times on a lake.

First time was with my dad; we took out his old snowmobile from the 70s. This is one phenomenally reliable machine! It hadn't run at that point for over 10 years, and all it needed was some new gas lines. Ran perfectly too! It was fun. At one point, we tried doing some sharp high speed turns, and wound up tipping over and flying off the snowmobile! Lots of fun!

Second time was with my friend at his cottage. He had modern snowmobiles, and those things really went fast! I got up to 80km/h on the two seater when I was alone! I had to back off since the front was really starting to skip over the surface. That was really fast considering I was 13 at the time!

I really want to go again sometime; but I'd rather go on a good, solid lake instead of a trail; speed limits suck!

I didnt know trails had speed limits lol. Good thing ive never been caught going well over 50 on the flats. Though im sure 50 is reasonable. Right

One of the few things I miss, since I moved. Used to have sleds, and they were a ton of fun, but I don't get snow here.
Should I move back to a place where there is a substantial amount of snow, then a skidoo would be at the top of my "to get" list.

We had an old snowmobile someone gave us - ancient and huge. That thing busted the crap out of your knees to drive it. But on the few occasions I drove it, it was pretty fun. I'm sure modern machines are much better in all ways.

Completely UN-snowmobile like comment - but the only time I've gone Jet skiing (is that a word ?) my (always sorta bum) knees were completely fubar for 2 days.... I've never had troubles on neither push, nor motorcycle...

I live on a river and when it freezez we have the biggest playground in the state. Last year we had probably 10 snowmobiles and 5, 4-wheelers on the ice just jacking around all day. I have an old Yamaha Exciter 300 with custom scalop paint. My uncle has a Polaris (I think) 800. He was making 125+MPH passes on the ice. My Yamaha only goes about 65mph but its so fricken fun to ride. Its kind funny though, one of my friends has a Jag 340 and I can consistantly beat him on top end 👍 I think this year we are gonna pick the tires on my go kart and put a super tall gear on it and see how fast I can go.

I'm not sure about anywhere outside of Ontario, but all provincial trails have a speed limit. 50km/h sounds like a very reasonable speed though.

That sounds really awsome! If you do it, let us know how fast you went!

Did it once with a friend and I didn't think it was that great. I didn't like the fact I was breathing the exhaust in the whole time either. :grumpy:
