So arcade mode... Is still career?

So I wanted to try La Sarthe in full darkness and with pouring rain. I went to the arcade mode menu, selected everything how I wanted it to be... And it still made me pay for the full wets? Am I supposed to drive with the rental cars if I want to prevent paying for things I don't have in arcade?

This is a bit of a letdown... I used to just drive around in GT4's arcade mode to test out different cars and try different tyres, or to drive around in some of the cars I didn't own.

PS: What's with the weak AI? I picked professional and they expect JGTC cars and a Pikes Peak car to be a worthy opponent against an LMP and a Group-C car?

For your own cars you have to pay. When you favorite them you can select different ones otherwise you're stuck with the current car you're in, or you have to use one of the loan cars.
