I took a car I modded to test, and I thought I heard some aggressive drums and guitars. and some electro beats?
so I stopped and paused the game and...

the game has some fantastic driving music. and its ..dynamic too?

congrats to lance hayes and however else made this.

strange thing for me to say, but I'm gonna keep the music on, and thats a first in many many many years!

In race music? Never, when racing I must be able to hear the engine and the tires, no music at all.

If I were to listen to music it would not be the stuff they put into video games as seldom is any of it worth listening to instead I would use my own playlist which of course IMO would be about a million times better suited to my tastes but any music at all reduces the ability to drive fast and accurately. The only time I have used it in races is in long endurance races were I am much faster than the AI and can cruise to a win with ease. In such cases it can help ease the boredom of lapping the AI

I mostly use the music off but sometimes when I feel in the mood I turn it on, because well... they did a really good job doing a proper, kinda epic music that really fits the battle environment of some races.

It's a great soundtrack.

if you press the link I provided, where I recorded exactly what I described, chances are you will realize that we are not talking here about boring music. its quite the opposite, and it peaks dynamically to what you do in the race. it took me 5 laps to realize what was different in my forza.
I suggest you at least try it.

and about the other thing you say, again if you press my link, its pretty obvious that the music does not cover the sound of either engine or tires. not even a chance that this happens. sound mix is rather good

yes, I am all in for the return of custom soundtracks on system level like in 360, but
my point is that forza 6 has some freakin' good music in it.
I didnt know until now because I had the music off as usual. but its pretty good, and pumping.

Any music at all does interfere with the other sounds there is no way to avoid that. It is not that you can't hear the other sounds but you do not hear them as well when there is some other sound also happening at the same time.

I typically keep the volume low on the game, just loud enough to hear what i need to hear any additional sound would be an issue.

Just remember that what may seem like good music to one person may very well seem like garbage to another. It is all a matter of taste and personal preferences.

I kept it on for a long time, since it's far less intrusive than the (similarly-dynamic) stuff from FM5. If people are that distracted by background music (that never gets close to over-powering the main-game sound effects) that they can't drive, I worry for the fellow drivers out on the road when they get in a car in real life. :p

1- when volume is pretty low, its the music that you almost not hear at all, not the car sounds. again you can test on my link by lowering the volume on the video to where it suits you.
sounds mix is of very high quality and attention.

2- yes, of course, you cant enforce taste, be it good or bad.
but I was of those that were asking t10 to bring back those great junkie xl style tunes from forza motorsport 1:

and guess what? they brought them back in spades :D

I love the in-game music in FM6. It's always on for me, makes the experience even better. I kept the music on in FM5 as well, although it was way more "dramatic" than in FM6, but I still enjoyed it.

FH2 isn't even a question, with a phenomenal tracklist that game has it would be a crime to turn it off. Also, it adds a lot to the experience.

I have yet to turn the in race music off. I really like it. I just wish I could make it louder. Its some of the best music to be in the Forza Motorsport series. Very well done.

I have to agree. The FM6 soundtrack really sounds influenced by JunkieXL's work in FM1. Except its all original, and no covers of popular songs.

I'm exactly the same with racing games. Even when I'm taking my real car on a spirited drive I turn my stereo off.

Music is a very subjective thing, not everyone has the same tastes. I listened to the music in that vid, and I thought it sounded like pretty much any other kind of fast paced videogame techno type music I've heard. I personally don't share your opinion on that music, but that's because obviously my taste in music is different to yours.

Does the X1 really not support custom music like the 360? That's such a shame, as that was one of the great things about the 360.

Agreed. Sure listening to the car's engine is music to the ears, but I gotta have music when I'm racing, especially if it's fast paced music like Driveclub's. FM6's soundtrack is so good, I never think about wanting to turn it off.

It's that epic! 👍

Did FM4 have all that GoldFrapp stuff? I liked it back then. What I find catching is, the dramatic classical music playing before the race, while I'm tuning a car. 👍

If I could turn the music volume down so I can easily hear all the little sounds from my car and tires, I'd consider turning the music on, but I haven't seen a music volume option. I hated the music from Horizon games, though. (I'm not into dubstep, electrofunk, technojazz, or whatever all that noise was.)
