so how does the game save feature actually work? (ps3 YLOD'd on me, its in shop)

My ps3 is in the shop for YLOD. I have a new ps3 that my wife bought me as a Christmas gift. Since I dont have my new ps3 hooked up yet, can someone please explain how to save my garage and transfer it to my new ps3? Thanks for the help. I have been restless ever since my PS3 took a crash last thur. I was specifically waiting for this update, came about 4 days too late for me :(

Get an ethernet cable, connect the 2 PS3's, go to Game Data in the base PS3 menus and you will see an option to backup or transfer data. The instructions on doing this are within the option on the PS3 itself.
 
You should be able to just copy the GT5 Save Data to a USB stick or other flash drive. It is associated with your PSN account so it isn't tied to your PS3 but it is tied to your account.

But if you want to "save" everything off your old PS3 the method Donatello mentioned will "move" your entire old PS3 to your new PS3 using the Data Transfer option.
