So I figured out why SS Route 7 is not in the main A-Spec game

Because it sucks and is boring! I played last night online and man, unless you're using it for drag racing or top speed testing or something I could have fallen asleep doing a 2 lap shuffle race on there! The snow is cool though.

Seriously I couldn't imagine a normal A-Spec race on there, you would totally Shellac the AI unless you showed up with the completely wrong car.

I always considered this track as a testing facility anyway.

Which makes it odd that it has that annoying bend on it. Either make a test track or a race track, not a track that is relatively useless for both!

No, it's good as a test track as it tests the high load handling of the car, flat out on a constant radius corner.

Yeah, but is it as bad as Indy? I've got about 900 wins there with my ZR1 RM and I can only race it in the mornings because it puts me to sleep in the evening.

Hell yeah, i've fallen asleep numerous times only to be waken up by the controller vibrating when i'm grinding into the track wall  .

It's a track for photo-mode and max-speed test.It also very beautiful if you didn't notice...

Ohh yes it does look cool, and the snow is cool as well. I just noticed people mentioned a few times "why didn't they use SSR7 in the A-Spec Game" well here is IMHO the answer. I honestly hadn't bothered to drive it until last night.

Been there once. Almost slipped into a coma.

Hm, I thought it would at least be good enough for the Like the Wind event.

Doesn't explain why they didn't use Indy Road Course in the main game though? There are a couple of license tests on it IIRC and a race on it in one of the seasonal events but that's it.

The Indy Road Course is used in the Formula GT Event.

Its long and kinda boring, but its great for online cruising and also max speed tests ..
The name reminded me of the long-forgotten SS route 11 from GT1 .. would really like to see it again somehow in GT5.

ON the subject of the Special stages, anyone know why the decided to completely change the landscape of SSR5, and adjust a few corners? It almost felt like a different circuit in some places compared to GT4 and earlier. I got caught out by the hairpin the first time as I was expecting to see the flashing lights/barriers, not just some dull grey walls.

I know what you mean. The track feels quite different now. It almost feels like the city is deserted.

Hmmm, never thought of using SSR7 as a test course or photo modes, so will defo consider using that...

Also agree with the comments about SSR5, initially felt familiar but then noticed some slight differences which meant it took me a while to get a rhythm going on it again, after a few missed braking points

It's based of a Wangan Highway in Japan. Sadly, PD did a terrible job on it, I would like to see an Osaka street track..

SSR7 is good for a tactical race online in really fast cars (LMP cars, X2010).

I remembered all the braking points for the FGT round Indy Road Course from Formula One 2003!

SS7 is also included in the longer end credits after the lap around the ring it changes to a real car driving in traffic along the route of SS7

I can NOT identify with people falling asleep while playing Gran Turismo 5. There are always ways to keep alert and engaged during long "boring" races on tracks with long straights. My personal favorite is switching to to rear or side view on the long straights, really keeps you on your toes and snaps you out of the monotony. If you are way ahead, you can even try to learn the turns on Indy in side or rear view! Very fun!

Yeah, there's nothing I find prettier than the sound-baffling walls either side of the road. You can keep your Cape Ring vistas and Eiger mountainscapes; the concrete canyon of SSR7 is where it's at.

Lol. Its where physical needs meet mental wants.

You wanna finish the race but you know you need to rest. I've nodded off a few times trying to do the AMG full lap challenges.
