Bandits.......
They are generally bulletproof but the 600 is too slow for you.
Anything past 80mph and the wind blast keeps you honest.
You're not that guy... I'd say the 1200 or nothing.
And get a tall screen.
I'm leaning away from the 600 as well. The 12's are the same price around here, and I love the fact they come with the 120/70 and 180/55 set up on the tires. Lotta sticky rubber in that range, and I do my racing on a drag strip also
SV.....
You had one. Barely any difference between old and new. Apart from the styling, and some weight alterations.
You'd be bored pretty quickly, but you'd never break it. Unless you dropped it of course.
I didn't know if they were much different with the introduction of the fuel injection or not. I liked mine, but never fell in love with it. It didn't have the it factor. Of course some of that was probably because I bought the cheapest one I could find and it was never "right" so it was always pissing me off
Gsxr.....
Widely renowned as the best all round sports bike and kept pretty much to a similar blueprint through the years, apart from power and lightness upgrades as it gets newer.
The sensible but very common choice. Suzuki make the most reliable bikes in the world.
And I ride a honda.
I'd still be on my '94 if the thing hadn't been falling apart. Looking back I think I know what was wrong with it, but either way, the whole electrical system was falling apart. I hate the SRADs, but the superman headlights tug at me good bit. They remind me of the old school ones, while being FI and pretty modern. Very common, I agree. In my area it's the 04+ you always see so it wouldn't just be another gixxer on the road
CBR......
Bulletproof reliability if looked after, and some serious life if thrashed to death too.
The F4i is quick, creamy smooth and has a serious riding position as it gets younger, with the RR being an out and out sports bike, as opposed to the F4i being something you can stay comfortable on for hours at a time.
They don't rev like an R6, they aren't as sharp as an R6, but you don't have to worry about them being made of the same cheese they used to make the moon......
I really like the sounds of that. Especially the comfort part
There just aren't many in my area at my price point. Luckily I'm not past the researching part of my search yet, so it's not a frustration
R6......
A serious sports bike with razor sharp handling that most who don't ride like Bopop will never get the best out of.
No disrespect, I'm sure you can handle a machine, but to discover the true talent of a Yamaha like this one, you need to be at the top of your game, and 90% of us never get there. It will feel relentless, and unforgiving and exciting, but you'll probably never find out what it can really do before you run out of balls or talent..... Yamahas are made of cheese metal, which likes to turn to mush.
And I own one, so I can confidently say that.
I have a feeling I'd run out of talent long before the bike does! I don't have any on track experience as far as road courses go, so I know there would be a lot of untapped potential until I got that sorted out. Now, what exactly do you mean by turn to mush? As in they fall apart, or don't handle being crashed well?
Triumphs.....
These have come a long way in the last ten years.
The company lost its headquarters which is 40 mins from my house, in a huge fire not too many years ago, and they rose from the ashes with a a whole new idea about how to make bikes.
The products have consistently won awards ever since, with their street and speed triple models coming out on top of rider surveys for years in a row.
The 675 that Bopop races around on is widely considered to have the best engine of any bike currently available, and will undoubtedly be a firm favourite among bikers for years and years to come. A firm friend of mine has three Suzuki gsxr's, and has had nothing but suzukis for the last decade, changing his bikes around up to twice a year.
The only bike he'll consider riding that isn't a Suzuki?
Daytona 675.
I've got some experience on the old Daytona 955i (1998 and '99) through my buddy and his dad. Great sounding, good feel, comfortable for a sport bike, and build quality is pretty fantastic. Doesn't turn in like a GSX-R but the one time we switched off in some twisties I was riding the one with blown fork seals. Love those bikes, if I find one (Daytona or Speed) I'd be checking it out in a heart beat
Good luck.
Thanks! 👍
