So what's the official excuse for not having Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo and Koenigsegg?

really, GT4 has been out for some time now - surely someone from gaming sites/mags have noticed the lack of those cars and asked PD

and no lame excuses like "look, there are plenty of cars to compensate"

It's simple. Polyphony will accept any car company that agree's to their rules. Those companies had a problem with the rules or wanted more money so they aren't in the game.

Seeing as 80+ car manufacturers were just fine with the rules, I think it is Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo and Koenigsegg's fault they aren't in the game, not Polyphony's.

I don't know anything about "rules", but it does come down to licensing.

As I understand it, EA holds the exclusive license for these three manufacturers, at least for the PS2 console. If a company wants to add the cars, they have to go through both the manufacturer and EA to do it. And EA is far too threatened by the GT series to allow PD to have the cars. They know damn well that if GT had those three manufacturers, the NFS series would become obsolete instantly.

The fault is partially on the manufacturers, but it's also in EA's court. They probably spent huge sums of money to lock up those licenses.

I remember reading somewhere that Ferrari actually wanted to have their cars in GT, but the license agreement with EA prevented it.

PGR and Forza aren't EA's games
Yes but they are microsoft games and so inturn microsoft has the money to make it happen. You know with money you can make alot of things happen.

yeah, they're probably berserk over the Ford GT in GT4 intro getting all the attention

I won't give up hope until ALL of GT4s secrets have been revealed!..... what are the surprises that KY promised were yet to be revealed?!

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

Um...I think we already met those surprises from reading. :O B-Spec, Photo mode and the vareity of cars. I just think that PD just said it be a surprise just to keep the publicity up on the game. :odd:

Don't be too quick to point fingers at EA, there really isn't any proof that's the reason GT is not getting the big 3(Ferrari,Lamborghini,Porsche). However, EA did something like this in the NFL games. They bought the exclusive rights to the NFL games, so the smaller publishers(like SEGA) won't be able to compete with them anymore. I heard they are trying to do that with the NBA rights now(NBA rejected the initial offer).

If what Jedi2016 read is true about Ferrari wanting to put their cars in GT, that's a good news. That would mean Ferrari and P.D. will at least try to add Ferrari in the GT5.

:sly: Just thought of this: can't PD and/or Sony just OUTBID EA for the licenses for those cars? I mean, Sony's got WAY more money than EA, and, let's face it, the GT series will NEVER be fully complete without them. And another thing? Who owns the Koenigsegg license? I know it can't be EA (they've never had the car in any of their games), so is it MicroSoft? Who? :sly:

Everytime it's that same broken record... Just play another game if you want them. Almost 700 cars, and you still feel like complaining?
