Wow, quite surprised that a search of the PS3 subforum showed no thread for this, so here we go.
This is one title I have been looking forward to for a while, and its starting to look very good indeed. As a lot of info is already out about the game I'm just going to link to the website for it, which does get updated on a regular basis...

Every map in SOCOM: Confrontation is going to have a specific look. Rather than just being "The Water Stage" or "The City Stage," there's a point that relates to the meta-situation of SOCOM: Confrontation. Crossroads, for example, is the center of political unrest in the Northern African territory. It's the former capital of the area and one of the most hotly contested battle zones.

Kasbah is an example of how history matters. Centuries ago, it was an important fortress and defense point. Nowadays, it's just a landmark. However, since strife struck the region, the old tactics have made a comeback. Kasbah is a fortified castle with strong defensive capabilities with a clear view of the valley below... so now it's one of the main contested areas in the region. It was worthwhile in the past and it is even more important today.

Quarantine, formerly Viral Labs, was once an upstanding research facility. It fell prey to a deadly viral outbreak, was quarantined, and then fell into disrepair. It's far off the beaten path and has become a hotbed for the illegal arms trade. This is why the place is not only run down and wrecked, but there are also boxes of unusable weapons, including a few biohazard signs.
