I’ve had a look and can’t find an answer to this but maybe it could be here would appreciate link if poss,
So I’m trying to do the clubman cup plus on the Watkins glen track it’s 4 laps and criteria is SS tyres and 600 or less PP but no matter what car I use I’m being left behind, most of my cars are well above the 600 PP but what I really want to know is if anybody as done this race and with what car and tune if poss any advice welcome thx 👍

Hi, have a look here:

Hi, have a look here:
Thx for that had a look and tried some of the cars they said but I think this race is being fixed by the AI 😂 even using cars I have that fit the criteria and I know have way more BHP than the ones in the race I’m still being left behind and I get cars that I know are not as fast as what I’m using coming past me like im standing still 🙄🤷‍♂️
This is one really frustrating race 😡

Dont think too much about power, that number is misleading.
Both in terms of actual speed and also on performance generally speaking.
As said in the linked thread: the most times it is not the AI with the highest power you need to worry about (though they can have a good run randomly).

This track easily favours cars with a high acceleration potential, which does not necessarily mean power.

And whenever possible: I prefer cars with lower weight instead of higher power.

What kinda of cars are winning the race for the AI in your races so far?

Me too

How did you win with a fast lap of 2:02.4xx? I've got to be doing 1:59's for a comfortable win, and anything over a mid 2.01 is second place.
Patience and luck to get a slower AI, took 8 or 9 attempts to get the kart win. You are right, typically sub 2 minute laps are required. Maybe the AI is slower when the game thinks you have no chance to win?

I think you're right, the car does make a difference. One thing I've noticed is that going into the esses, which side I pass the first couple of cars sometimes makes a difference in how the field performs. I'm going to try the Kart!

We got off topic, so for @mark41 try the Jag XJ220. It's in the legends dealership (as of last night). I think @praino has a tune for it. It's the only one I've found to win most every time.

Other consistent winners are any and all Group B cars. No tuning needed and their stock gearing is perfect for Watkins Glen.

I did this one in a 599PP tuned STI. I don't really mess with tuning details that much, but it's on race suspension, power mods to get 478hp, and SS tires. Fastest lap was a 2:00.034.

Clubman + races are some of the hardest challenges in the game, but there a a bunch of cars that are tuneable to under 600PP that can win here. It really prompts you to think about building a well rounded car that can do many things well. Straight line speed is a factor here since WG is a pretty fast track and the AI cars are fast as heck.

Thx for that info I’ll give it a try and yeah you’re right they keep leaving me for dead it’s mental 😂😂

I know this is a long response, but I just won this in the Subaru BRZ '21 with a slow fast lap of 2:02.3xx. The Honda 660 was the rabbit. I used the tune below with some changes.
No widebody, slotted discs, no pad upgrade, racing trans with stock gearing set at 270 kmh, no power upgrades except racing muffler, racing cutch, increased rigidity but no weight reduction, 7kg at 0%, all aero mods, wide offset only on the wheels, NO wide body, ECU 92%. 335 hp and PP 599.62.
