I don't confess to being brilliant at racing at Daytona, mediocre think best describes me and as for tunning, eerrrr pretty useless, i have clocked quite a few hours going round and round with numerous cars, so decided I'd add a few here for anyone to try, maybe even hoping to entice some more racers onto the track, might seem quite boring going round and round but i think a lot of skill is needed to find the draft and be able to pass especially in the bends where the race is won or lost. Anyhow the first car, only tried it today, in free run 51.4, i've had it quicker but decided it was better to have the car a little lighter as in the race i felt you had more control in the bends, mid bend it was still clocking 177mph+

Nissan Skyline Sedan 350GT(forgot to add what car this was for)

Power +19
Weight 99%
Tyres R1
Height -23, -29
Springs 3, 4
Damper 5, 4
Toes -0.20, 0.00
Camber 2.2, 1.9
Brakes 1, 3
Turning 40
ABS 1
1 3.841
2 2.352
3 1.529
4 1.092
5 0.839
3.764
All aids off
Dropped the pp to 599 took it to a win, put the pp to 600 took it to several wins, at the start its quite a slow car, but stick with it find the draft and make you way through the pack

EDIT On a further note, as the tunners find doing a set up for Daytona quite boring unless you ask them, where im sure they would oblige, having had request brilliantly done by them for myself or even help when required, i was going to say feel free to add your own tune to this post for others including myself to have a go

I have been working on some tunes for DO, but since I'm rather new to Oval tuning (and it's quite different to 'regular' tuning), I decided not to post them yet. Add to that they were customer requests, so I'll have to ask them first if it's alright to post them. ;)

This next one, well i had fun, first tried using S3 tryes and saw drafting in excess of 205mph, unfortunately too much speed needed to be scrubbed off in the corners. In free run it clocked 51.2, found trying to add more power meant more weight and then the wall was getting a little to close, also plumped for the R1 tyres as it mean i could go round the outside of cars in the bends while doing 170+/-, as for testing in a race, this as been quite hard both myself and GTP_Rob found ourselves on too many occasions in the middle of The Muppets On Tour

Mazda RX7
Power +12
Weight 100%
Tyres R1
Downforce 0
Height -32, -40
Springs 6, 8
Damper 6, 7
Toe -0.20, 0.00
Camber 1.7, 1.6
Brakes 1, 3
Turning 40
ABS 1
1 3.483
2 2.015
3 1.391
4 1.000
5 0.724
4.027

On a further note, this car is stupidly good in the bends BUT it needs a to be in a field of clean drivers as when you come up against the usual inconsiderates be careful, "winning is not everything, it's the taking part that counts"
Finally a test was completed without being taken out, 600pp straight to a win, with some drafting of our own GTP_Rob, cheers bud

Mid bend of 177+ mph should be enough to win quite a bit - I had a basic tune on the Nissan Skyline Coupe right after the Aug 1st update that could do 171 in the bends and it won alot. Funny it takes you almost a whole lap to get up to speed in it but once you get motoring you fly by people in the bends and get far enough in front of them that they can't draft off of you. I'll try this new one out tonight and post some feedback - be interesting if we both finish 1 and 2. ;)

Now for the Mazda RX8, not as good to drive and slightly slower, this 600pp seems to start right at the back but was able to catch the lead car with only a few drafts

Power +25
Weight 105
Tyres R1
Height -25, -29
Springs 5, 7
Dampers 6, 5
Toe -0.17, +0.15
Camber 2.0, 2.2
Brake 1, 3
Turning 40
ABS 1
1 3.163
2 1.977
3 1.398
4 1.112
5 0.951
6 0.825
4.362

The 2 guys I admire most on the Daytona Oval and that seem to finish 1 and 2 all of the time are tedsleds (in his Lotus) and MINDSABER in his (GT LM Spec). If I can take one of these 2 tunes and rub paint at the finish line with those guys then you need to open your own Tuning Shop here on the forum. :)

got a few more to add soon, some fast some just fun to drive. Coming up Nissan Skyline Coupe 370, Art Morrison Corvette and a couple of others i'm trying to get my best out of

I can vouch for the RX-7 being quick. I don't think much will corner quicker than it. Maybe the NSX Type-R. That would be a good one to do next maybe?

Took the Nissan Skyline 350GT out that you tuned last night and liked it - won a few races and was always in the top 3 with it when really racing - couldn't hold 177MPH+ in the turns so I'm not sure what I was doing wrong - came in around 168MP to 172MPH if I was lucky which is still enough to win.

Here is my first tune for that event from back in early August:

Nissan Skyline Coupe '07 (not tuned version)

Power +17
Weight 110%
Tyres R1
Height -15, -15
Springs 10, 10
Damper 3, 3
Toes -0.50, -0.50
Camber 3.0, 2.0
Brakes 5, 5
Turning 40
ABS 1
1 4.505
2 2.912
3 1.904
4 1.412
5 1.108
6 0.876
3.000

This one could compete with the 350GT and is really fun to drive - it is slow off the line but once it gets going it can draft well and handle corners at around 170ish - it also gives you alot of flexibility when choosing lines as you enter the turns so you can either overtake people on the inside or the outside - the key I found with it is to have the PP slightly lower at the start so you can quickly draft off of the guy who passes you in turn 1. :)

I then moved on to this one:

Nissan Skyline Coupe/Tuned

Power +6
Weight 115%
Tyres S3
Height -20, -20
Springs 10, 10
Damper 3, 3
Toes -0.50, -0.50
Camber 3.0, 2.0
Brakes 5, 5
Turning 40
ABS 1
1 3.841
2 2.352
3 1.529
4 1.000
5 0.839
3.652

This one has more speed on the straights but gives it up some in the turns - overall I think it is slightly faster than the first one if it is handled properly.

And finally I'm working with this guy right now:

Opera/Amuse 350Z Tuned

Power -3
Weight 85%
Tyres S3
Height -15, -15
Springs 10, 10
Damper 3, 3
Toes -0.50, -0.50
Camber 3.0, 2.0
Brakes 5, 5
Turning 40
ABS 1
1 3.794
2 2.324
3 1.624
4 1.271
5 1.000
6 0.794
3.187

I think this one has the most potential because it is forgiving in the turns and has very good acceleration and drafting ability (not to mention it just looks better :sly: )

I'm going to try out your RX7 tonight and play with some others also - the NSX is doable but you have to fight it in the corners quite a bit. I really want to get a Lotus working and I see quite a few Fort GT LM Spec cars winning with good times also.

I can vouch for the RX-7 being quick. I don't think much will corner quicker than it. Maybe the NSX Type-R. That would be a good one to do next maybe?

Have you seen how quick he is in the NSX - R?

I bet he doesn't give that one up. :sly:
