See, I told you the 5900XT is a great card for it's price.

For those who don't know, the 5900XT was just an underclocked 5900 to compete against the 9600XT, since the 5600 was no where near the 9600XT's or the 9600's performance. Since then, Nvidia developed the 5700 and no longer needed the 5900XT. Yet, the 5900XT still performs better even with an older core than the 5700.

Because the 5900XT is about $100 cheaper and only scores 1,000 less in 3DMark 03 than the 9800Pro and can be easily overclocked to be better than a 9800 Pro.

More like $5-30 cheaper

For 128-bit 9800 Pros.

All of the 256-bit 9800 pros are at or over $200.

Viper Zero
It's also out of stock...
That's because the MSI 9800 Pro is 'well known' for generally having the R360 core, which is the same as the 9800XT. This allows people to flash the BIOS to the XT version, enabling extra shaders, and also allows a higher OC, past stock 9800XT. I was actually about to buy a MSI 9800 Pro because of this, but I'm now awaiting the arrival of the AGP 6600GT.

Another thing, ITR. I'd go for the Mobile Athlon XP 2400+ 45 watt. It's $7, has 512k cache compared to the 256k on the 2200+, and is one heck of a good overclocker, because it has a better quality die and can run higher frequencies with lower voltages. Allowing extremely cool tempuratures at default speed and good temps overclocked. I recently built a computer for my parents with this CPU. It's at 11x200 for an instant 3200+. Runs about 48C full load, but it's very quite with the fan only running about 2000rpm. Very quick.

And, finally, the RAM. I'd go with this. Nice RAM, only a few dollars more. 👍

ATi owns Nvidia. :D :sly:

The ram looks good, Burnout but seeing as how I'm not buying these myself every penny counts. :indiff:

I might consider the 9800Pro. I was looking at some benchmarks and the 5900Ultra got 57FPS in UT2003 1600x1200 ultra high settings 4xAA and the 9800Pro got 87FPS. Hhmm...

The majority of the population in California are Democrats. Does that make them right?

;)

If you want to see how any video card stacks up, read Tom's VGA Charts IV.

Well, I hate politics, so if you enjoy that stuff, it means nothing to me. If you ask me, the entire system is bs.

Anyways, I trust numbers that I put up, not websites or publishers, because I've seen it go both ways. I trust what I see in person, and considering I've tested both the X800 Pro TOXIC from Sapphire and 6900 Ultra from Nvidia. Out of the two, the X800 won 75% of the tests. Bar none, better in my eyes.
