Some questions about the Logitech G25/27

I have been thinking about getting myself a steering wheel for my PS3 and it seems like the Logitech G25 is the most popular one around here. So i want to know something about it.

I never played with a steering wheel on any console yet so i want to ask:

1: How exactly does it improve the driving experience?
I have heard that if you have a steering wheel it is possible to get better and faster time records on race tracks.
But it's not easy to imagine how? Is steering more responsive or something?

2: Is it expensive?
If this Logitech G25 costs more than my PS3 I don't think I'll consider buying one.

3: Where can i get the best deal for that steering wheel?
Different stores give different offers. I prefer buying mine on the internet.

4: Is it realistic?
I didn't know how to title this question so I'll explain it now. When I asked my dad about steering wheels he said that they weren't great, because if you wanted to turn, you had to keep rotating the wheel, until you were done turning, as the car only turned if you kept rotating the wheel. I'm pretty sure that since that was probably some time ago, these steering wheels have improved over time and this is no longer and issue. But I'm not entirely sure. However if this is true for all steering wheels, I think I'll stick to my DS3.

5: Is it compatible with the PS4?
If not then I'd rather wait for GT7 to come out for the PS4, get them both and then get a steering wheel that is compatible with the PS4.

1) A wheel definitely improves the experience. You're just more involved with the car, since IRL a car has a wheel and pedals. But it takes time to get used to. You'll probably be slower, but practicing helps big time.

2) The G27 goes for just over 200 dollars. If you're lucky you can find them on sale.

3) Amazon. They put the G27 on sale a couple of times. You can also check EBay but be careful about the condition.

4) I think #1 answers this. You're more in-control and you can make more precise inputs. It's just more immersive.

5) I don't think it'll be compatible with the PS4. Might be wrong though.

Logitech have said they're pulling away from making racing wheels so the chances of them creating drivers for the PS4 are slim. Currently it isn't compatible with the PS4.

do you think it's worth buying one, now that gt7 is on it's way for the ps4 and the chances of the g25/27 being compatible with ps4 are small?

Thanks for answering my Q's

If you're going to use the wheel only on PS4, then no it might not be worth buying it.

Currently no if you're only going to use them on consoles. If you were to use them on PC I'd completely recommend it because I had one for a little while after upgrading from a DFGT and it felt great. It was smooth and precise. Sadly, the motor wasn't giving much FFB which has been a problem with quite a few G27s so I sent it off for replacement.

If you're thinking about a wheel for PS4 you should look into the T300 or the T500. The T300 is compatible with PS4 and the T500 most likely will as well.
