I was having a bit of a think the other day after copping a hiding on the resale value of a car I bought (in GT3) and didn't like.
I wonder if they couldn't expand on the 'car market' aspect of the GT series a bit more - you'd get that a bit with the used car markets in GT and GT2, where you could snag a bit of a bargain if you got lucky with your timing.
You'd need to expand the game into an calender based game, where certain championships might be on at certain times, so you'd need to choose what series you wanted to race.
As an example, you start out at day 1 with your $10k in pocket. You need to get licenses, but the basic championships run earlier in the year, so you don't start out with nothing to, and the more advanced series run later.
As such, demand would ebb and flow for particular types of cars depending on what championships were on at a particular time.
Also, if a car had won something significant, the resale value should be more than for a regular version of the car (eg. [in hushed tones] 'that's the 787B that won the Formula GT series']).
It would probably make the game far too complicated, but I think they could pump up the market and time management aspect of the game a bit more.
I'd probably just be happy trawling through the second hand car yards ala GT2...
